Chapter 17
“I am over five hundred years old, and I have killed no one in my life. Understand?” She tried to scare Asher. While sitting on the bed, she was afraid that she would harm Asher. Thankfully, that strange feeling made her stop. While she was in his embrace, she felt some excitement, but her anger didn’t let her listen to that; she smelled Asher’s scent more from this close, making her feel something she had never felt. It made her feel heavy, sad, calm and thrilled simultaneously. Olivia could not describe that, but she tried hiding this feeling. Facing Asher and looking into his eyes, she regretted her action immediately. After moving away from Asher, she walked back to the bed. She sat down and crossed her arms. She forced herself to act normal.
“Just put that I had minor injuries. You kept me here for a night to observe my state. I’ll stay here tonight, go home tomorrow, and then we finish. I’ll ring the police in the morning.”
Asher felt it hard to get back to reality, but he also did his best to hide his feelings and had no mood to continue making fun of Olivia. He lifted his arms as he quit and typed what Olivia said. He stood up straight after he finished, and he walked to the door without saying a word, but before he would have left, he turned back to Olivia.
“Don’t dare do this to me again; otherwise, don’t blame me for what I will do to you.” Then he left.
Olivia’s eyes widened, but Asher did not see that. His mixed feelings made him mad. He was about to go home when he smelled Olivia’s pleasurable scent. Usually, vampires smell disgusted him, but she was different.
He wondered first because he knew she had left the hospital long ago, and seeing her go with that other vampire concerned him. Asher felt stupid because of this and tried to avoid listening to these strange feelings.
For a moment, he thought she had come back, thinking he had finished, and she wanted to take blood, but as he approached the reception, he could smell other unfamiliar humans, too.
Curious about what was happening, he walked to the main door. He was greatly surprised to see Olivia standing with two police officers beside her. Even though he was far away, he heard them talking with the receptionist, and as he was sure Olivia had never been injured, he had an idea of the case.
After he observed Olivia’s face from closer, he saw she was desperate to get herself out of the situation. He knew she was thinking of how she could get out of the hospital before they would notice she had no heartbeat at all. Asher did not know why, but he felt sorry for her. He imagined himself in a situation like this when he would be desperate to have a helping hand to avoid humans to o find out what he was,
Asher knew he was the only one who could help her. He could say that he just wanted to ensure their existence would remain a secret, but he had to admit that he felt terrible for her. So he helped. And what did he get in exchange? Olivia tried to scare him, pretending to attack him. Okay, he could have been nicer to her, indeed. He made Olivia fume because he wanted to laugh, but even if he did that, he helped her a lot. And she did not even thank him for his
When no one saw him, he leaned against the wall in the corridor and took a few deep breaths. He could not escape the memory of her looking into his eyes from so close and its effect on him. It hypnotised him for a moment.
Asher shook his head to return to reality. That was vampires‘ nature. Their appearance made everyone amazed, and that helped them
em to get food.
After standing there for a while, deep in thought, Asher walked on. He went back to their break room and took his jacket before he walked out of the hospital. Asher walked back to his car, and then he drove home. After he stepped into his housk, he called his father, who sounded happier. Lucy was always with him, and it seemed like he liked her so much. He couldnt believe how Lucy could fool him so much. He also felt hurt because his father liked Lucy more than itis son did, and he believed her.
