Chapter 19
His beast tried to break free for hours as usual, but it eventually got tired. After howling for a while, it lay down and whined quietly. However, his calmness never took so long. He never gave up, and as soon as he was ready, he tried to break free again. His nature was similar to his human. The giant black wolf never sumenders. He stopped to take a break, but he always started over to fight for his goal.
Olivia opened his eyes early in the morning. He felt her thirst torture her instantly. She felt heavy and planned to stay in bed all day. She pulled her quilt to cover her head when her house phone rang. Olivia had no clue who could ring her on the house phone, but then the remembered she lost her mobile last night. Probably, they tried to contact him from the police, so she thought that would be better to answer.
Even if she tried to keep up with the changing world and familiarize herself with innovative and modern devices, she still had an old–style house phone in this flat, so she couldn’t see the number that was called
She unwittingly left her bed, and she received the call.
“Dr Flores? Dr Knox is speaking.”
She felt surprised to hear her leader talk on the phone. Suddenly, she thought maybe Asher had told her something about the last day, and he had made sure he had given her a hard time. She sighed, ready to explain whatever she needed to explain.
“Oh, hello, Dr Knox. How can I help?” She asked her, pretending she had no clue why Dr. Knox was calling her.
“I’m sorry to disturb you, but I wonder if you could come to work today. We are super busy and short of staff.”
Olivia was in no mood for that. She wondered why she said they were short of staff when it was customary in a hospital like this, but she swallowed the question. Olivis felt tired and wanted to return to bed, but she did not want to refuse Dr. Knox. She had just started working there, after all. “Well, I can go in.”
“Super. She said. Whenever you are ready.
“Thank you.” She said happily, and she hung up.
“Great.” Olivia sighed. She quickly found some clothing to go out and left her flat. She drove to the hospital, and she walked in. Her colleagues wondered why she was there, mainly because they heard what happened last night. But she just ignored them. Many colleagues wanted to know the details of yesterday. Some doctors, especially men, wanted to make sure she would make a report of it, and many of them offered to accompany her back home for a while. The only thing that annoyed her was that some of them even wanted to examine her head, which had no injury at all. The only thing that Olivia wanted was for them to leave her alone finally.
However, after she had changed, her first step was to go to the room where doctors could rest. As no one was there, she headed to the canteen but found no one she was looking for. Even though he had mistreated her so often since she had worked here, Olivia wanted to see Asher and apologize for her behaviour. Still, she could not find him anywhere, and she frowned when she found the envelope she hadjent at the reception last night, behind the desk, untouched “Clan do you know where Abber is? I need to speak with him.” Olivia turned to the receptionist, who had just finished a phone call,
The receptionist frowned for a second. “He didn’t show up today” She replied with indifference.
Olivia’s eyes widened.
Clair shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t know. He didn’t turn up without ringing in. Maybe he got drunk last night. I don’t know.” She said, and she left with a folder in her hand. Oliva just kept her frown. She had not known Asher long but could not believe he would do such a thing. Werewolves liked to party and ate and drunk a lat sometimes, but Asher looked different. She offended him last night but was sure that wouldn’t make him leave his job. He definitely wouldn’t leave his job because of vampire, leaving it to win. He probably planned his revenge inatçad
