Another Chance Alive 96

Chapter 96

Kelly murmured, “Who did they offend? All their dirty secrets got exposed this is terrifying…

Valerie smiled softly, urging, “Alright, let’s eat.”

Kelly had stumbled upon the news by chance and shared it with Valerie out of curiosity, but since it didn’t directly affect them, they quickly brushed le aside.

It was the weekend, and Ruth, as a renowned senior artist, had been invited to deliver a lecture at the art museum for young artists.

Attendance was exclusive–only rising talents in the art scene were allowed entry.

During breakfast, Kelly clamored to go along. Ruth, fond yet resigned, gently scolded her, “You never stay stillyou’d only create chaos there.”

Kelly clung onto Ruth’s arm, pouting, “Grandma, please, I really want to go.”

Ruth remained firm, turning to Valerie instead, “Let’s go once you finish breakfast.”

Kelly’s eyes widened, protesting, “Why does Valerie get to go?”

Ruth playfully tapped Kelly’s forehead, explaining, “She’s going as my assistant. She’ll help manage my notes, introduce exhibits, and deal with those kids. If you want to take her place, tell me now–I’ll take you instead.”

Kelly sheepishly scratched her head, admitting, “I just wanted to have fun.”

Ruth shook her head gently. “And you still have the nerve to complain? If you’re ready to do Valerie’s job, speak up.”

Kelly backed off immediately.

Following Ruth around and dealing with older artists wasn’t exactly her idea of fun.

Kelly silently mouthed “Good luck” to Valerie.

Valerie chuckled softly, quickly gathered her things, and left with Ruth.

Valerie had planned this day with Ruth long in advance.

Many esteemed artists gathered at the museum, and today’s event had attracted numerous admirers of Ruth.

Ruth, known for her kindness, warmth, and past fame, remained immensely popular with younger artists.

Throughout the day, countless admirers sought Ruth’s autograph.

Valerie managed the crowd efficiently, carefully protecting Ruth and ensuring everything went smoothly.

Ruth watched appreciatively, feeling increasingly satisfied and proud.

By day’s end, Valerie had skillfully handled every task, impressing Ruth’s acquaintances. Hearing that Valerie was Ruth’s granddaughter–in–law, they showered her with praise.

After dinner, Valerie escorted Ruth home.

Concerned about Ruth’s exhaustion, Valerie gently massaged her shoulders during the ride.

Clearly tired, Ruth affectionately said before parting, “You’ve done wonderfully today, dear. Go and rest now.”

Valerie flashed a bright smile, nodding, “You should rest too. I need to pack and return to campus.”

Chapter 96

Ruth looked surprised. Right now?”

Valerie nodded. “The campus is over an hour away. It’s better to leave now than wait?

Ruth frowned with concern. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner? I wouldn’t have delayed you this long. Perhaps leave tomorrow morning instead?“.

Valerie considered briefly. “Alright, let me help you inside.”

Ruth waved her off gently. “Go rest. If Aiden sees how tired you look, he’ll think I’ve mistreated you.”

Valerie laughed softly, returning quickly to her room. Despite her physical fatigue, she felt incredibly content.

Reaching for her phone, Valerie thought of capturing this meaningful day.

To her surprise, her WhatsApp was flooded with messages.

Adrienne had sent countless texts.

Valerie suddenly remembered Adrienne mentioning something urgent the previous night.

Distracted by Payton’s ordeal, she’d completely forgotten about it.

Opening the chat, she could practically feel Adrienne’s frustration through the screen. Adrienne wrote: [Valerie, have you even checked the forum?!]

Link Shared: Reano University Beauty’s Secret Exposed: Poor Girl Riding Luxury Cars–Moral Degeneration or Human Nature’s Corruption?

Adrienne: [Check it now! They’ve slandered you terribly! Pure speculation with zero facts–I’m furious just looking at it. Hurry up and clear your name!]

Valerie smiled wryly, picturing Adrienne’s exasperated face. Clicking the link, she saw a photo of Aiden’s unmistakable car.

The special–edition Rolls–Royce Phantom stood out dramatically, immediately attracting attention at the university.

The next photo showed Valerie entering the car.

Valerie always dressed simply, indistinguishable from her peers, deliberately blending in. She couldn’t have looked more out of place next to such luxury.

The post aggressively accused Valerie of selling herself for financial gain, embarrassing Reano University.

Next came various fabricated accusations.

Valerie allegedly became arrogant after acquiring wealth, fighting in the dorm, disrespecting roommates, stealing skincare products and clothes, and acting rudely.

Worse, she was accused of flirting shamelessly with her roommate’s boyfriend.

Valerie laughed bitterly at the absurdity.

Clearly, the author wanted everyone to know she was Valerie’s roommate.

Valerie knew immediately it was Jasmine’s doing.

Meredith disliked Valerie but lacked the nerve to fabricate stories.

Unfortunately, sensationalized accusations were enough to provoke public outrage.

Comments poured in: [That’s a limited–edition Phantom! Who’s this girl clinging onto? No wonder she’s so arrogant.]
