A Marriage Deal 126
Chapter 126: Her Command Chapter 126: Her Command. Silas trudged inside his house and sank into the couch. He was tired, not just physically, but mentally too. His phone rang and he reached for it from his back pocket. His brother was calling. “Hey bro,” he said, his voice groggy. “Si, what’s up?” Thomas asked. “Just there,” he admitted, stretching out his legs. “I just heard the news you released, was that a way to distract them from my matter?” Thomas asked, his voice calm. Silas rubbed his temple as shame settled in his stomach. He didn’t want to talk about his rash decisions. “No,” he said, then told Thomas about Kim’s accident. “Oh, Silas.” “I know, I know,” Silas sighed. “Everything happened so fast.” By the time he went downstairs to confirm it was really Kim, speculations were already spreading. Reporters were around, and he knew wherever they were, trouble was bound to follow. And he was really avoiding trouble. They would complicate the whole situation, and that would make Ivy even madder. Not that diverting the issue hadn’t caused problems, but he felt it would have been worse. “Did the media say anything? You know, form stories about why Kim was in your office?” Thomas asked, his voice cutting through Silas’s thoughts. “Not that I know of,” he replied. “I hope Ivy’s business announcement was the perfect diversion.” “Oh it is,” Thomas said cheerfully. “People are actually congratulating me too.” Silas chuckled, pride swelling in his chest. “That’s great then.” “About my case,” Thomas said and Silas straightened up. “Patrica is settling tomorrow, I think Wade is trying to secure a hearing for me too, but I am not sure.” “What time would it be?” “You don’t have to come Si, I don’t want that publicity taking away the one you created,” Thomas said quickly. “But I want-” “You’ve done more than enough for me, Si. Sit this one out please,” Thomas insisted. Silas laughed at Thomas’s tone. “Alright boss.” Thomas chuckled. “Have you spoken to Theresa? I’ve been calling but she hasn’t answered.” “Maybe she’s just resting, Silas suggested. “Don’t worry, I’ll call her and check up with her security.” “Alright. Thanks man.” “No problem. Take care,” Silas said and ended the call. He dropped the phone on the table and tilted his head. “Monica?” Monica appeared almost immediately. “Hello sir.” “Hey, please make me a glass of coffee,” he said and Monica left. A few moments later, she returned with a cup and set it on the table. “Would that be all, sir?” “Yes,” he replied and she left. Silas wanted something stronger like vodka, or whiskey but he was too tired to handle them. Besides, he wanted to be sharp when Ivy returned home. His thoughts drifted to Ivy and he shook his head, trying to remove the embarrassment that came with them. It was so dumb of him to make that move, and even dumber of him to argue with her. “Shit,” he cursed as he sipped his coffee. Like always, Ivy made him powerless, vulnerable. His phone rang again, and he stretched for it. Rosie was calling. “Hey, Rosie,” he said. “Hey Silas. I’m waiting for you. Where are you?” Rosie asked. He dropped his coffee, confusion racing through him. “What?” “I’m in the hospital with Kim,” Rosie explained. “She called me, where are you?* 1/3 … Read more
