Raine collapsed on the ground, her face frozen in shock as she screamed and clutched her belly. I could see blood trickling down between her legs. Immediately, I pulled out my phone in fright and called an ambulance.
At the moment, people around us made their way as well.
When life was on the line, I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing, no matter how much enmity there was between us.
Besides, there were so many eyes watching.
As Raine was being loaded into the ambulance, I told Liam to go collect his award. After I insisted several times, he finally
relented and didn’t come to the hospital with me. Having something like this happen on such a happy day for him made me
feel terrible.
Liam saw right through me and comforted me. “It’s not your fault. She brought this on herself. Just wait, I’ll come find you
when I’m done!”
I nodded. In the ambulance, I called Bruno.
The phone rang a few times before he picked up, as if trying to act all high and mighty.
“So, you finally decided to call me? Had enough of your tantrum? If so, come home and I’ll still marry you,” he said haughtily.
I ignored his ego and went straight to the point. “Something happened to Raine. Get to the hospital.”
Then, I gave him the address and hung up.
Raine’s fake setup had turned into something all too real. Right now, no one was suffering more than herself.
However, she wasn’t willing to let things end like this. As she was wheeled into the ward, she shrieked like a madwoman.
“Aelia! It’s all her! She pushed me! I’m going to sue her! Bruno, look at how evil the woman you’re so desperate to marry!”
Bruno arrived just in time to hear all this. The nurse standing by was quick to take her side, convinced that I had pushed Raine and caused her to go into labor early. Her attitude toward me was anything but friendly.
“Miss, do you realize your actions can land you in legal trouble? You better hope she makes it!”
With that, she turned and went to get the paperwork.
Meanwhile, Bruno stayed oddly calm, as if it wasn’t even his woman and child inside. He just looked at me with a mixed
expression.
Then, I heard something that completely blew my mind.
“Aelia, I never imagined you could be so jealous. If you had told me that you couldn’t stand this baby, I would have made Raine get an abortion earlier when it was still safe.
“Now that your heart’s healed, we can share a bed again. Having a baby is just a matter of time. While I can forgive you for what happened, this has hurt Raine deeply. To keep her from getting hurt again, you’ll have to let me keep her around. You
owe her that.”
With that, he gazed at the operating room door. A doctor came out, took the paperwork the nurse handed him, and asked, ” Who’s the patient’s family?”
Only then did Bruno stand up and go over. “I am.”
“What’s your relationship to the patient?” the doctor asked.
Bruno glanced at me for a second, then said, “Boyfriend.”
After he signed the paperwork, the doctor went back in to continue the surgery.
