I meant every word I said.
Liam froze for a moment, then his face broke into joy. He dove into my arms, hugging me tight. He buried his head in my
neck, and took a deep breath
“You said yes, so there’s no going back,” he said happily. “If you ever stop loving me, I’ll just tie you up and keep you by my side! You’d better never stop loving me, because that would be so painful!”
I laughed softly, patting him on the back.
Who would threaten someone like that?
Later, I watched Liam go wild, showing off in his group chats; he even pulled me in for a wefie to post on every social media
account he had. He wanted the whole world to know.
While we were glued together over here, things were grim for Bruno.
After returning home, he immediately started spreading rumors about me. He released my father’s final words to stir up the
media If I didn’t marry him, I would be branded as being ungrateful.
He exaggerated everything he had supposedly done for me, especially how hard he had worked to keep my father’s company
running.
Many didn’t know any better, and actually bought his lies. These stories put me on the hot seat, with the public throwing
vicious accusations at me.
I didn’t pay much attention, however. Instead, I went home with Liam to meet his family.
His family was his older brother, James.
Liam’s parents had died young, leaving a huge fortune for the two brothers to handle. Luckily, James had already taken over the company at the time. My father had once helped this abandoned boy, too. That was why James helped out Elshine Corporation–because he remembered my father’s deeds.
James was ten years older than Liam. After their parents died, he basically raised Liam. Hence, I was exceptionally polite
when I met him.
Thankfully, James was easy to get along with. Other than being very serious about business, he was gentle and friendly-
except when he was teasing his wife.
The way James was so roguishly char
ming was exactly like Liam when he was with me.
I couldn’t help but laugh.
