Chapter 23
On the way home, Cecilia remained silent, and Luke glanced back at her nervously. “Cecilia, did you really break up with Gavin?”
“Yeah. From now on, don’t help him with anything. I won’t stop you from being friends with him.” Cecilia’s voice was calm.
But Luke looked confused. Since Luke could remember, Cecilia and Gavin had always been together. They’d never been apart.
Once, when Luke was bullied at school and didn’t dare tell their parents, it was Gavin who came to help him. After that, no one at school dared mess with him, knowing Luke had a powerful future brother–in–law.
Gavin was capable and treated Cecilia well, and Luke had always thought of Gavin as family. Hearing that Cecilia and Gavin had broken up, Luke was having trouble accepting it, but Cecilia seemed completely indifferent.
“Mom made a lot of food, so eat more and talk less,” Cecilia reminded him with a smile as they walked in.
Luke swallowed hard and could only agree, “Okay.”
Lily didn’t notice anything odd with the siblings and kept busy in the kitchen.
Back in her room, Cecilia went through her notes and changed all the passwords to her accounts, especially the shared ones with Gavin, which she canceled.
After dinner, Cecilia went for a walk with her mother. Passing by Edward’s house, Edward spotted her right away.
Edward couldn’t help but compliment her, “Cecilia, you’ve gotten even prettier. A daughter who’s so considerate and loving, unlike my son who never stays home. How long are you staying this time?
“What a coincidence, my nephew is back too. You two never met last time, but now’s a good chance. It’d be great if you young people could make friends.”
Cecilia’s smile became awkward. She couldn’t avoid the blind date after all.
Lily looked at her, respecting her choice.
Cecilia didn’t tell Edward about the mix–up at the last blind date. Out of courtesy, she simply agreed, “Alright.”
Not long after Cecilia left, Gavin showed up, carrying various expensive gifts. He was well aware of Cecilia’s situation, though he hadn’t come with her to visit in the past three years.
Luke opened the door, surprised. “Gavin, you came to see Cecilia?”
“Luke, who’s here?” Lily, hearing the sound, walked over and was clearly surprised when she saw Gavin. “Gavin? What brings you here?”
“Mrs. Jordan, I need to talk to you about Cecilia and me.” Gavin stepped into the living room with a commanding presence. “Luke, go call Cecilia down.”

Chapter 23
Since he’d come this far, Gavin wasn’t going to leave easily. Cecilia had caused a breakup, but now it was time for her family to weigh in. Maybe her mom could talk some sense into her, and they could work things out.
Luke hesitated, unsure of what to say.
Just then, Lily came over with a cup of coffee and replied, “Cecilia is out. She’s on a blind date.”
“A blind date?” Gavin froze at the words, his hand trembling. He spilled the coffee he was holding, and it burned his hand.
At the town’s café, there were no other customers at this hour. Cecilia sat there and met Henry, someone she had known by name for a long time.
Just like Lily had told her, he immediately lit a cigarette as he sat down, perhaps out of work habit, and didn’t stop smoking.
“Ms. Jordan, if I had known you were this beautiful, I wouldn’t have missed our first blind date,” Henry seemed quite interested in her.
“I heard from my uncle that you work as a secretary at Kingsford? Being pretty must give you an advantage at work. But why would you be on a blind date? You must have plenty of suitors,” Henry added.
His tone was rude, and Cecilia felt uncomfortable. She wasn’t sure if it was because of the mix–up with Simon at the previous blind date, but it made her think that all blind date partners would be as polite as Simon had been.
“It’s just a job. I’ve quit now and plan to start a studio,” she replied dismissively, deciding to finish her coffee and leave.
“You’re starting a studio on your own? How much have you invested? Honestly, I think women shouldn’t be chasing careers. Taking care of the family is what a woman should be doing,” Henry continued to smoke while sharing his opinions.
Cecilia was barely able to tolerate it. “Everyone has their own ideas, and there’s no fixed right or wrong answer. Mr. Quinn, I have things to do, I’ll be leaving now.”
“Ms. Jordan, let’s add each other on WhatsApp, maybe we can meet again in Kingsford,” Henry said, quickly pulling out his phone when he saw Cecilia getting up.
Just as Cecilia was about to reject him, she unexpectedly saw Gavin rushing in.
Gavin entered just in time to hear Henry’s words, his eyes filled with anger.” Cecilia, I really didn’t expect you to go on a blind date!” He was emotionally wrecked to see her there.
At that moment, Henry noticed Gavin’s appearance and aura and immediately felt overshadowed. He forced himself to say, “Who are you? What does our blind date have to do with you?”
“I’m Cecilia’s boyfriend. This has nothing to do with you. Move aside!” Gavin’s ruthless and intimidating presence sent a chill down Henry’s spine, silencing him immediately.
But Henry wasn’t willing to back down. He had been on many blind dates, and now he had finally met a beautiful woman like Cecilia, yet she had an outstanding boyfriend. “Wait, my uncle said Cecilia is single.”
Suddenly, Gavin’s anger flared up even more. “Cecilia! You told me we broke up just so you could say you’re single and go on a blind date?”

Chapter 23
He couldn’t describe his feelings. He never imagined that the Cecilia who had always belonged to him since childhood would go on a blind date.
The thought that Cecilia could accept another man besides him was something Gavin couldn’t accept.
Cecilia had just finished paying her bill on her phone and slowly looked up. “How did you find me? Did you go to my
house?”
“That’s not the point. Why won’t you answer my question?” Gavin said.

Gavin stared at Cecilia intensely. “You quit my company and secretly went on a blind date. Are you taking our relationship so lightly? You said you wanted to marry me, but now you’re looking for other men?”
A few waiters in the café were gossiping and stealing glances.
Cecilia couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. She looked at Gavin and, for the first time, responded to his uncontrolled emotions. “Why do you always ask me about things I did a long time ago?”
Gavin’s heart trembled, and he held his breath.
“I broke up with you over a month ago. You clearly heard me and agreed at the time, so why are you constantly denying it?
“Gavin, stop being childish. Not everything and everyone revolves around you. We have nothing to do with each other anymore, so don’t interfere with my life.” Cecilia said these decisive words in a soft tone.
