Chapter 5
After making all the necessary calls, I returned to what had once been my home now barely recognizable.
1 began calmly sorting out the things that truly mattered to Emily and me.
What was mine, I took without leaving a single item behind. Anything tainted by them, I wouldn’t so much as touch.
Three days later, Attorney Larry arrived at my temporary hotel suite with a thick stack of divorce papers.
Every asset had been accounted for in painstaking detail. The majority of Scott’s wealth traced directly back to the White family’s
resources.
I picked up the pen, ready to sign my name–when the doorbell rang.
I assumed it was my mother bringing Emily over.
The moment I opened the door, a blast of alcohol hit me–followed by a searing pain as a massive force slapped me hard across the
face
Crack!
The blow came out of nowhere, so sudden and vicious it blurred the world around me. I staggered back, the divorce papers scattering
across the floor.
“Jessica White! You venomous bitch!”
Scott stormed in like a raging lion, his eyes bloodshot, his finger stabbing the air in front of my face.
“How much humiliation have you dumped on Chloe already? Firing her wasn’t enough? Now you stoop to this–sending men to assault her? What the hell is wrong with you?!”
Clutching my stinging cheek, my head ringing, I stared at him.
“What the hell are you talking about? What assault?”
“Are you still pretending?!”
He hurled his phone onto the table. On the screen, a shaky, dimly lit video played.
Several men in black ski masks punched in a code, entering a hotel room–Chloe’s room. Moments later, the sound of high–pitched screaming filled the air.
“See this? Looked at what you’ve done!”
Scott’s chest heaved as he jabbed a finger at me.
“They confessed already! Said it was you! When firing and humiliating Chlore didn’t work, you paid someone to violate her! I must have been blind to marry such a cold–blooded woman like you!”
At that moment, Chloe appeared in the doorway, clutching her face, her hair disheveled, bruises marring her skin
Her voice shook as she faced me.
“Mrs. Collins… I know… I know I’m an eyesore to you. I shouldn’t have stayed by Mr. Collins’s side…. it’s my fault… Please…. I’m begging you, let me go… I’m just a nobody with no family, no one to turn to…”
She kept sobbing into her hands, glancing up at Scott every so often, her eyes full of staged fear and dependency.
“You lying bitch!” I snapped, my shock giving way to fury. “When did I ever send anyone after you?”
“Caught red–handed and still denying it?!” Scott roared.
“Bring them in!”

From the hallway, three battered, bruised men were shoved into the room.
I recognized them immediately from the video–the ones in the ski masks.
The moment they saw me, they stumbled back, their faces draining of color.
“Ms… Ms. White! Please, have mercy! We didn’t mean to rat you out!”
“Yeah, yeah! Please, spare us! You told us to do it–we didn’t dare refuse!”
“We were wrong! We’ll never do it again!”
Watching this clumsy yet vicious frame–upand hearing their shaky, hole–ridden “confessions” that left no doubt, I felt my heart drop into an ice–cold void.
Chloe, still sobbing, poured more oil on the fire.
“Mr. Collins… it’s fine… I’m just unlucky… Don’t upset your wife on my account…”
Scott’s expression hardened. “Don’t worry–I’ll get you justice.”
Then he turned to me, his voice dropping into a chilling, deliberate cadence, each word like the devil’s whisper.
“Since you like playing filthy games so much… let’s see how you like it.”
He addressed the three men before him.
“Here’s your chance to make it right. However you treated Chlore just now, do exactly the same to her. Do it well… and I’ll let you walk away. But if I’m not satisfied…”
He didn’t need to finish. The unspoken threat made all three men flinch.
“Scott Collins!!”
I could hardly believe the words coming out of his mouth.
“I’m your wife! You’d actually–You’re a sick bastard!”
His eyes were ice–cold, carrying a twisted, cruel satisfaction.
“When you did what you did, you should’ve thought about the consequences. Don’t worry–you’ll still keep the title of Mrs. Collins. But a woman with a heart this filthy? I wouldn’t touch you again in my life.”
He barked at the men again.
“She likes these kinds of dirty tricks? Let her taste her own medicine. Do to her exactly what she ordered you to do. Now.”
The men exchanged looks, something vile flickering in their eyes as they started toward me–loosening belts as they walked.
The last shred of steel inside me cracked.
“Scott Collins! You bastard! This is a crime!”
I backed away, terror clawing at my throat.
“Crime?” His sneer was pure contempt.
“Did you think about crime when you sent men after Chloe?”
He blocked the doorway, looming over me.
The men lunged, grabbing at me, yanking at my clothes. I fought like hell–screaming, cursing, kicking–but they were stronger.
Cold air hit my bare skin. Despair swallowed me whole-

The suite’s heavy door burst inward, ripped clean off its hinges.
A squad of men in black suits poured in like a pack of predators, their fists and feet striking in a blur.
Within seconds, the three would–be attackers were on the floor, groaning in pain and unable to move.
And then, from the doorway, a deep, thunderous voice rang out:
“You’ve got some nerve–laying a hand on my daughter. You must have a death wish!”
