Chapter 158   Rowan’s POV “Something is wrong with Harriette, That was all I needed before I rushed out of the house and headed for where Starrette was I grabbed my car key before leaving. Chapter 156 BOOK 2 CHAPTER 20 Rowan’s POV That afternoon, I 1 was in my office when I heard a slight knock on my door. Whoever it was must have received permission from the warriors at the reception. I thought it might have been Mika or Gideon, but as the knock resounded the second time, I realized it wouldn’t be either of those two. Chapter 153   Harriette’s POV I returned to the room and realized Ella was waiting for me. She was ready to leave. She was fully dressed and had a sling bag across her chest. She lifted her eyes to the door when I came in. I was sure that the sling bag contained her most valuable things. “Is it time?” She asked. I shook my head. “Not tonight,” She stared at me for a while. I looked away but within a second, I looked back at her. I could swear that I saw a smirk on Ella’s face before she turned to change out of ther outfit. I frowned. It wasn’t possible, right? Whatever it was that I saw didn’t just happen, right? “Whose clothes are those?” Ella pointed to the clothes I was wearing, “No one’s,” I lied. “I just poked them up from the garbage can outside,” She looked at me suspiciously before she got into bed and slept off. Although I removed my clothes, I found it difficult to put them down. It was engulfed with Rowan’s scent and somehow, I didn’t hate that. I wore the sweat top back to sleep. The events of that night ran through my head and I felt embarrassed, hot, and short of words at the same time. I couldn’t explain what I was feeling in between my thighs, but every time I closed my eyes to sleep, I felt this sensation that made my toes curl and made me feel as though I was back in that room, tangled up against Alpha Rowan while he kissed me senseless. If I sat in an interview room and was asked why I kissed him, I’d probably fail because I had no answer to that question. I turned over and over on my bed until it was five am in the morning. I didn’t sleep a wink at all. How was that even possible? I was always a heavy sleeper ever since I was a kid. Even though it was usually a dreamless sleep, still, I never had a problem with sleeping. Chapter 153  I walked back outside once I was done. Commander Mika urged me to run along with her. One by one, other warriors joined us as we ran laps around the pack. I stopped for water at intervals at a fountain. The perimeter borders never ceased to mesmerize me. The security, the control, the arrangement of warriors were all brilliantly executed. Chapter 152     The moment Harriette stood on her toes, I should’ve known what she was up to but I didn’t expect it. Nothing prepared me for the moment when she slammed her lips against mine. My eyes went wide as it took my brain a few seconds to recognize what was happening. I froze. The world around me froze as well. I couldn’t even blink. She threw her arms around my neck and deepened the kiss. It took me a little over five seconds to recover. I closed my eyes and kissed her back. To hell with all my convictions and self–absorbed rules. I wanted that moment like it was dear life and I would take it mine. I placed my hand on the small of her back and pulled her body closer to me. I took the lead from her and kissed her better. The kiss was fast and quick but the feel of her skin against mine almost made me lose my senses. She moaned and that undid something in my head. I grabbed her closer to my body, placed my hand beneath her butt, and lifted her in my arm. She quickly tangled her leg around my waist. I moved us from the door to the table at the corner of the room. I pushed everything to the back including files and maybe my laptop.
