Chapter 8
As soon as I finished speaking, I reached out and pulled my beast bone straight out of Maisie’s body.
Because it had been in her for so long, the bone had already fused with her flesh.
The pain of bone and flesh being torn apart made her writhe on the ground, screaming in agony.
Justin tried to rush over to stop me, but Kaelen raised a hand and froze him in place. All he could do was watch helplessly as the sister he loved most endured the torment of being skinned alive.
Honestly, with my abilities, I could’ve pulled the bone out in an instant. But I chose the slowest, most painful way
on purpose.
Only when Maisie finally passed out from the pain and went silent did I finally pull my hand back, though still not fully satisfied.
“I’ve taken back what’s mine. Good luck, I guess.”

On the way back, I turned to Kaelen. “Do you think I was too cruel?”
He held me tighter and replied in a low, hoarse voice, “I only hate that I wasn’t there for you back then. If I’d met you sooner, I wouldn’t have let you suffer like that.”
When we got home, Blair was already waiting outside. He was staring at Kaelen, holding my hand.
I figured it was finally time to settle things.
Kaelen was being clingy and wouldn’t let go, but after I whispered something in his ear, his eyes lit up. Only then did he slowly step inside.
“Blair, it’s time we put an end to everything between us.”
It was the first time I’d ever seen a look that resembled pain on Blair’s face.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were the one who saved me back then?”
I looked away from his eyes as old memories resurfaced.
