Chapter 10
Kaelen bit down hard on his lower lip, looking like he was ready to face death itself.
Suddenly, it felt pointless, so I got out of the bed and left the room without looking back.
Over the next few days, I didn’t go home. Instead, I spent my time drinking at the biggest tavern in the city.
This was the famous Beastkin Lounge, where every server was a different type of beastman. Some even offered special services.
That day, I was completely wasted. My gaze wandered to the delicate–looking beastman beside me, quietly pouring my drink.
Without thinking, I reached out and pulled him into my arms.

Before I could finish the sentence, the door slammed open with a loud crash, the wood splintering into pieces.
There he stood–Kaelen, dressed in white, his face dark as a storm cloud and his eyes burning with fury. He stared at me and the beastman in my arms.
I was lamenting my bad luck at getting caught when Kaelen simply turned and walked away in silence.
I shoved the beastman off and ran after him.
By the time I got home, Kaelen was angrily stuffing clothes into a bundle. I rushed forward and yanked it out of his hands.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
He threw down whatever he was holding and collapsed onto the bed, crying hard.
The sound of his sobs only grew louder, making my temples throb.
I tried everything–hugging him, kissing him–but he turned away and ignored me completely.
“Oh, come on, babe. What’s wrong?”
