Chapter 4
After the decision of the council, Alpha Keal announced her trial.
The setting sun streamed through the grand windows of the Pack’s great hall, casting a golden glow over the vast space that should have been filled with honor and authority.
Alpha Keal stood at the center, tall and imposing, his cold gaze sweeping over the assembled crowd. His voice was low, brimming with power.
“Vivian, as a Beta, you’ve not only betrayed the Pack’s trust but trampled on our dignity.”
Vivian stood with her head bowed, and her usual confidence was gone.

Her face was pale, her eyes dull, but she held back her tears. She knew there was no escaping this reckoning. She had believed her bond with Alpha Keal would shield her, but now, she was trapped in a pit of her own making.
“You knew the consequences,” Alpha Keal’s voice was laced with barely restrained anger. “You fabricated a false pregnancy to manipulate the Pack, to secure special treatment. Your lies cost us dearly–even humiliated me before my people!”
Murmurs rippled through the crowd, suspicion and confusion in every glance. Vivian stayed silent. She knew Alpha Keal’s accusations were skewed, his condemnation layered with ulterior motives. The only comfort in this moment was the presence of the figure standing beside her.

I watched Vivian with icy detachment, showing no sympathy. She had seen through Alpha Keal’s schemes long ago -how he used this spectacle to reinforce his dominance, all to strengthen his own position.
“Did you consider the damage your actions would inflict on the entire Pack?” Alpha Keal’s voice grew colder as he stepped closer. “As punishment, you are stripped of your rank. From this day forward, you are an Rogue–no privileges, no honor–until you prove yourself worthy again.”
Vivian flinched but wasn’t surprised. She had expected this. Alpha Keal’s favor had always been conditional, his attention fleeting. Her betrayal had simply given him the perfect excuse to cast her down.
Alpha Keal turned to the Pack, his voice

ringing with finality. “Vivian is hereby banished. Her actions have violated our principles.”
As the decree was spoken, Vivian’s pride shattered. She wanted to argue, to defend herself–but where would she even begin? The Alpha Keal before her now was not the man she had once trusted. He was no longer the lover who had shielded her, but a ruthless
ruler.
Yet, she didn’t surrender. A spark of defiance flickered in her eyes. If she had to fight for survival, so be it.
THE
Just as she turned to leave, I spoke.
“Wait.” My voice was calm but carried an edge. “This punishment isn’t enough.”
The crowd stilled. Alpha Keal paused,

frowning. “What do you mean, Selene?”
“She’s no ordinary traitor,” my gaze was frigid. “She didn’t just betray the Pack–she deceived you, Alpha Keal. Her crimes go beyond simple disobedience. She must face greater consequences.”
“You’re right,” Alpha Keal’s eyes darkened. “Vivian, your schemes demand a heavier price.”
I smiled faintly, as if she had anticipated this. She exchanged a glance with Alpha Keal before turning back to Vivian.
“Vivian,” my voice was like winter’s bite, “I’ll be investigating you privately. That pregnancy–was it real? Who else was involved? I will uncover the truth.”
Vivian’s breath hitched. my threat wasn’t

empty. This she–wolf was ruthless–if she dug deeper, the fallout would be far worse than a mere demotion.
Vivian’s lips curled into a cold smile. “You think you’ve won? You underestimate me.”
I chuckled. “Do you really think you can turn this around?”
“Try me.” Vivian’s voice was steel. “But don’t expect me to make it easy for you.”.
Alpha Keal cut in, his voice devoid of warmth. “Whatever tricks you have left, Vivian, it’s too late. This is the end for you.”
Vivian met his gaze, then turned on her heel and strode away, ignoring the Pack’s stares. She wouldn’t beg. She wouldn’t break.
The game had only just begun.
