Michelle didn’t bother pretending anymore once everything was out in the open.
She stood up and spoke to Javier bluntly, “Honestly, it makes me happy knowing she’s suffering for what she loves.”
Javier couldn’t bear it any longer. He slapped her so hard her lip split.
Holding her cheek, she snapped, “You have no right to hit me!
“You’re the reason she ended up like that! She’s gone now, and I’m all you have left. Just stay with me!”
Michelle lost it and clung to Javier’s waist. He shoved her to the floor and turned his back on her.
She burst into loud, crazy laughter.
“Don’t bother looking! She died in that earthquake a long time ago! Her arms were crushed-she couldn’t even crawl out! Hahahaha!”
Javier searched everywhere, but there was still no sign of Skylar. Eventually, he gave up and accepted her death.
He sat down, chugged a beer, and muttered, “Skylar, I sent Michelle to the mines. She won’t ever leave that place.
“She’ll suffer forever for what she did to you. I’ve also locked Clara up in a psych ward. She’s never getting out either. Is that enough for you? Why won’t you show yourself?”
He met with many psychics, hoping Skylar would appear in his dreams. None of them worked. He figured she hated him for not getting revenge sooner, so he punished Michelle and Clara.
But it didn’t help. Nothing felt right.
After staring at Skylar’s ashes for a long time, he suddenly picked up the urn and swallowed all of it.
“Skylar, I know you don’t want to see me. But I don’t care. Even in death, you’re staying with me.”
Javier spoke each word like he was forcing them out. He got up shakily and went to turn on the gas. That was when Anthony called.
“Javier, come to the station. Skylar has been found.”

When Javier saw me again, tears instantly filled his eyes.
“Skylar, it’s truly you…”
I gave him a cold smirk. “What’s wrong? Upset I didn’t die?”

Honestly, I also thought I was going to die, but a rescue team pulled me out. The doctor who treated me was the same one who’d done the grafts before. I begged him to keep me hidden from the Gomez family.
He faked my death and helped me escape their grip.
Even a stranger would show me kindness. Meanwhile, my husband, the man I’d been with for over ten years, was the one who destroyed me.
Javier panicked and quickly shook his head. “I didn’t. I just…”
Then he broke down. He fell to his knees, slapped himself hard, and cried.
“I messed up. Please, just give me one more shot.”
I smiled mockingly. “You should ask the judge for that chance.”
He looked confused and wanted to hug me, but my lawyer blocked him.
