In the silence that followed, Chloe wiped the tears from her face and bravely put on a smile again. “I can take care of myself. I know how to make oatmeal.”
Saying this, she gently stepped down from the officer’s embrace and bowed politely. “Thank you! I’m going home now!”

Chloe looked up and met the sharp gaze of a man.
He stood with one hand in his pocket, radiating a strong, intimidating presence as he coldly stared at her without speaking.
The atmosphere turned icy. Everyone swallowed nervously, watching the reunion unfold.
Chloe’s eyes widened in surprise. Seeing Andres handsome face clearly, tears filled her eyes. She took tiny steps toward him, gazing up curiously, then glanced at the three boys behind him.
Andres felt complicated.
His daughter was standing right in front of him. Perhaps because of their blood ties, he felt an inexplicable closeness to this little girl.
Yet, the stronger this feeling became, the grimmer his expression turned, and he remained silent.
Finally, Chloe shyly lifted the packet of oats. “This is for you, sir.”
He paused. staring at the clearly cheap, unfamiliar brand, and frowned. “What’s this?”
“Oats,” she beamed brightly, tears spilling down her cheeks. “They’re really delicious!”
She recognized her daddy.
He looked exactly like her. Mommy said Daddy wouldn’t like her when he saw her. But even if just once-
She wanted to be close to him.
Mustering her courage, Chloe pushed the oats into his palm and gently squeezed his fingertips with her tiny hand, gazing admiringly up at him. “Sir, your hand is so big.”
Just like other kids‘ daddies, she had held her daddy’s hand.
Satisfied. Chloe stepped back, bowed again, and said, “Goodbye to you all,”
She turned away, her small figure looking mature beyond her years yet deeply pitiful.
Andres felt a strange pang of guilt. “Chloe”
She turned back, seeing the man standing elegantly by the doorway, his expression stern. “I suspect you’re my daughter Come with me for a paternity test. If you are….”
His eyes darkened, and under everyone’s gaze, he said deeply. “I will take care of you.”
