I stared at the message silently, put my phone down, and didn’t respond.

Dexter hadn’t lost his job yet, but his chances of getting promoted to vice president were completely gone. I called Miriam. who filled me in on everything that had happened at the company.
At first, my post didn’t get much attention. But someone had taken the photo of Dexter and Rhea hugging and posted it in the “couples” section of a forum.
Maybe I just captured the moment perfectly, or maybe they really did have the perfect chemistry, but somehow they became the couple everyone on the forum envied.
Since the photo was taken at the city hall, the person who posted it titled it: [They’re finally together–hugging after getting their marriage license.]
The post quickly gained traction and soon reached Dexter’s colleagues,
Dexter was something of a celebrity at his company. He was on the brink of being promoted to vice president, and not only did he have his own team, but he also had his fair share of enemies.
Before long, someone noticed that the photo in my post matched the one on the forum and sent it straight to the boss.
Miriam couldn’t stop laughing as she told me, “You won’t believe it. That day, Dexter was leading a meeting when he got a call from the big boss.
“He thought it was some important task, so he answered on speakerphone, and everyone in the meeting room heard everything.
“The big boss said, ‘You have so much free time? You’re out causing trouble instead of taking care of your family? Get to my office right now! Miriam mimicked the boss’s voice perfectly.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Please don’t call him that. Dexter and I are already in the process of divorcing.”
“Sorry, didn’t mean to offend you,” she chuckled. “Honestly, you should’ve divorced him a long time ago. When those rumors about you came out, he was all over the place, pretending to trust you.
“But in reality, he was just spreading those lies. That man… his mind is dark. He even manipulates the person closest to him.”
I lowered my eyes, feeling a pang of sadness, but quickly pulled myself together. “Thanks for telling me all this,” I said.
“No problem! Thanks to you, it looks like Truman’s promotion is a done deal. We’ll have to go out for a meal to celebrate
soon
I hung up, smiling despite myself. I never would’ve guessed that making peace with Truman and Miriam would involve taking Dexter down.
Looking at the time, I felt it was the right moment. I called over the two bodyguards and four strong movers, and we headed straight to my old house.
This house was mine. I had left it with Juno because I had no other choice. I was still recovering, and with Kimberly and Dexter controlling everything, there was no way I could stand up to them while taking care of a young child. But today was different

I entered the security code, but to my surprise, the password had been changed. I’d been expecting this, though, and I couldn’t help but scoff. I immediately used my ID to override the lock. With a click, the door swung open.

The moment I stepped inside, Kimberly appeared from another room. When she saw me, her face instantly soured. “How dare you come back? You’ve turned this family upside down! Get out–NOW!”
Dexter came out of the room and into the living room. When he saw me, his face went ashen.
“What are you doing here? Haven’t you already done enough to ruin my life?” he demanded, his voice harsh.
I gave a faint smile. “Not enough. When you pushed me into that ravine and I almost died, I made a promise to myself–I would make you pay. Don’t think this will be over so easily. If you refuse to admit your guilt, then we’ll take our time.”
With that, I signaled the movers to get to work.
Kimberly froze in shock. “W–What do you think you’re doing? This is my house! Why are you taking my things? Put them down!”
