Phoebe spoke casually, as if she couldn’t care less, “She’s done everything a wife should. The only thing missing between you two is a marriage certificate.”
Declan stared at her, trying to search for any hint of sadness on her face. Sadly, he found nothing. It seemed that he really didn’t care about him anymore.
For some reason, a dull ache spread through Declan’s chest when he realized this.
Looking away, he forced his voice to stay cold. “As long as we’re still legally married, it’s your duty to take care of me.”
Phoebe felt a wave of irritation but didn’t have the patience to argue. Instead, she pulled out her phone, unblocked Jennifer, and sent her a message.
Across the town, Jennifer had just finished her shower and was about to go to bed when she saw the message from Phoebe. Her face instantly turned gloomy, and she cursed under her breath, ‘That bitch.’
She threw on some clothes and hurried downstairs, only to run into Olivia and Liam, who had just returned from a party.
“Jennie, where are you going this late?” Olivia asked with a frown.
Jennifer forced a smile and replied, “Mom, Deck had too much to drink, and he’s alone at home. I’m worried, so I’m going over to check on him.”
Olivia glanced at Liam, who remained expressionless, then smiled at Jennifer. “It’s not safe for you to drive alone at night. I’ll have David take you.”
Jennifer replied, “Thanks, Mom.”
After Jennifer left, Olivia muttered, “Looks like Declan still has feelings for Jennie. Otherwise, why would he even tell her about something as trivial as drinking?”
Liam nodded. “Tell Jennie to take her chance. Hardly anyone knows about Declan and Phoebe’s marriage anyway, so it won’t affect finding her a better match later after she divorces Declan.”
For Liam, it didn’t matter if Phoebe or Jennifer ended up with Declan–as long as it benefited his company.
As for Phoebe, once the divorce was settled, he’d find her another husband who could bring something valuable to the
Greenes.
Declan and Phoebe didn’t chat until the car pulled up to their villa. Declan frowned when he saw the lights on.
Except for Pheobe and him, no one would visit this house, so Declan was confused.
“Did you come back earlier?” he asked.
Phoebe’s expression stayed calm as she replied, “Why don’t you open the door and find out?”
Declan punched in the code. The moment the door swung open, he froze. Standing inside was a familiar figure.
Declan’s gaze turned icy as he turned to Phoebe and asked, “What the hell is this?”
Jennifer had just finished making sobering soup and was placing it on the table when she heard Declan’s voice. She quickly walked over to the door to greet him.
Declan stood there, visibly furious, his chest tightening. He complained in his mind, “This woman is insane. She actually brought Jennifer into our house. Does she have any idea what this means?‘

Phoebe’s face remained indifferent as she replied, “Didn’t you say you were drunk? I did you a favor and called the one person you’ve been dying to see. You should be thanking me.”
Declan’s jaw clenched. “SAY THAT AGAIN.”
Seeing the disbelief in his eyes, Phoebe lost what little patience she had left and added, “She’s here now, so I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone. Sign the divorce papers and mail them to me.”
Without another glance, she turned around and walked away without a trace of hesitation.
Declan was boiling with anger. Just as he planned to chase after her, a hand suddenly grabbed his arm, and Jennifer’s sweet voice reached his ears. “Deck, I made you some sobering soup. Come on and have some.”
Seeing Jennifer’s cautious expression, Declan frowned and pulled his arm free. “Jennie, go home now.”
