Phoebe stumbled from Declan’s grip, barely keeping her balance. She looked up at him, irritation flickering in her eyes. “You saw it yourself. The 15 million dollars is ready. Can we finally be done with this?”
Declan let out a cold laugh, his expression dark. “So, this is the payment for the time you spent with him? Mason is really generous. And you? You think you’re worth that much?”
The mockery in his eyes and the outright disdain made Phoebe’s brows knit together. She retorted, “Where the money came from has nothing to do with you. Don’t forget you said as long as I gave you this amount, we’d get divorced.”
Declan slammed the card onto the table, his gaze locked onto hers. “If it’s money you earned by selling yourself. I don’t want it. It disgusts me.”
Phoebe’s eyes burned with anger as she met his stare and asked, “So what, you’re eating your words now?”
“I make the rules. I’m not taking that money, and I’m sure as hell not agreeing to divorce you,” Declan growled.
Seeing the scowl on Declan’s face, Phoebe scoffed, “Wow, Declan, you’re really something. You believe I slept with Mason, but you still don’t sign the damn papers? Gotta say, I’m impressed by how generous you are.”
Declan glared at her with icy eyes. “You betrayed me. You think I’m gonna let you walk away that easily?”
“Do whatever you want. I’ve already given you the money. If you don’t take it, that’s on you. You refuse to sign? Fine, I’ll file for divorce,” Pheobe said with a shrug.
Declan stepped closer, his voice low and sharp. “Go ahead and try. See if anyone dares take your case.”
With that, Declan turned on his heel and walked out.
Phoebe had been holding herself together for too long. The moment Declan left, her strength gave out, and she sank into a chair. A sharp pain shot through her abdomen, and when she looked down, she saw that her wound had started bleeding again.
For the next few days, Phoebe stayed in the villa to recover. Once she felt better, she returned to work.
The very first day she started to work, Adrian wasted no time throwing shade at her during a meeting. “Ms. Greene, you disappear for days after pissing off Mr. Moore. Do you even care about your responsibilities as CEO?”
Phoebe let out a dry laugh and slammed a folder onto the table. She stared him down and snapped, “Funny, I was just about to ask you the same thing. You knew damn well Moore’s a sleazy bastard, and you still sent me to negotiate with him. What exactly were you hoping for?”
Adrian clearly hadn’t expected Pheobe to speak so directly. His face stiffened before he gritted his teeth and shot back, “Mr. Moore is a major client. If closing the deal requires some sacrifices, so what?
“Ms. Greene, if you don’t even have the dedication to do what it takes, how can we trust you to run this company properly?” Phoebe’s patience had run dry. She leaned back with her arms crossed and retorted, “Since you’re so willing to sacrifice, why don’t you sleep with Felix? If you land the deal, I’ll make sure you get a big reward.”
Adrian’s face went beet red with rage. He slammed his hand on the table before storming out.
Phoebe barely spared him a glance and said, “Meeting continues.”
After the meeting, she asked Mark to stay behind. Mark kept his expression neutral, but Phoebe could tell he was on edge. He asked, “Ms. Greene, can I help you?”

That night, as Phoebe pulled up to her villa, she saw Declan standing by the door
Her brows furrowed upon seeing him. She didn’t bother acknowledging him and headed uraight for the entrance let n she passed him, he suddenly grabbed her wrist.
“Phoebe, come home with me.” His voice was firm, as if it was something unnegotiable.
