Chapter 2
Jolie was a regular woman, while Leroy was the famous prince of New York’s elite.
It was beyond anyone’s expectations that he would fall for her, but destiny intertwined their lives in an extraordinary way.
Growing up in modest conditions, Jolie was keenly aware of the significant gap between their social status.
When Leroy initially showed interest in her, she turned him down, thinking it was just a rich guy’s fling with the unfamiliar. However, his persistent pursuit became the talk of the town.
In a bid to escape, Jolie faked her own demise by leaping into the ocean. To her surprise, after “losing” her, the once–arrogant prince was consumed by grief, frantically searching the water for any sign of her.
Discovering the clothes she had purposely left behind, he dove into the sea without hesitation. In that instant, Jolie’s heart softened, and she believed she had discovered genuine love.
Years later, she found a suicide note in his safe, addressed to Jane. It was dated the exact day Jolie had staged her death.
His supposed search at sea had been a facade. His true intention was to end his life in homage to his beloved crush’s “passing.”
His grand gestures of affection had never been meant for her. She was nothing more than a pitiable replacement.
Jolie cried for three days and nights. When Leroy learned of it, he did

everything he could to console her.
“Darling, Jane is gone. Why linger on a memory? You’re the one I truly love.
“If you doubt my sincerity, I’ll dive back into the sea until you believe me.” With that, Leroy made his way toward the shore.
Her heart melted. She reached out to stop him, dried her tears, and surrendered to his comforting hug.
Later, Leroy assigned his personal security team to her.
“These guys operate under the radar for me–mercenaries, never in the public eye. They follow my commands alone, but from now on, they’re at your service.
“If I ever let you down, instruct them to end me, alright?”
Jolie laughed while tears streamed down her face. “I could never take a life. Leroy, do you love me?”
“I do. Leroy has always loved Jolie.” He embraced her firmly, as though worried she might disappear once more.
However, once Jane came into the picture, he stopped talking about his love for Jolie and only asked her to be understanding repeatedly.
“Jolie, Jane was abducted and held captive. Those vile kidnappers tormented her for years, leading to serious depression. Please be patient with her.”
“I promise I’ll make it up to you once she’s better, alright?”
Jolie believed that his feelings were just rooted in guilt, a desire to make things right with Jane, that she remained his true love deep inside.

However, a car accident shattered that illusion.
Her mother was gone, and Nikita had plummeted from a great height, her fate uncertain.
Once the plane landed safely, she frantically searched for Nikita, desperately stopping anyone she encountered to inquire about her sister.
Suddenly, a bodyguard appeared in the distance, carrying an unconscious Nikita.
‘Mrs. Yost, Ms. Nikita is okay, she just fainted. Mr. Yost instructed us to place rescue airbags under the plane.”
Jolie finally broke down, sobbing. Leroy seemed pleased with her response. He lifted her chin, gently brushing her tangled hair aside.
“This is what happens when you defy me, honey. There won’t be a next time.”
With that, Leroy left with the bodyguards, ruthlessly abandoning Jolie and Nikita in the deserted countryside.
Soaked to the bone, she struggled through the mud, dialing a number Leroy couldn’t trace.
“It’s me. I need your help to disappear. Erase every trace of me in a month.”
“Yes, Mrs. Yost.”
