Chapter 8
Leroy and Jane’s wedding went ahead as planned–a grand affair, with every elite name in New York on the guest list.
Jolie sat quietly in a corner of the banquet hall, dressed in a pale lavender dress.
He had always been showy, taking her wherever he went. Back then, everyone knew her as “Mrs. Yost.”
But now, everything had changed.
The legal wife sat in silence
watching her husband marry his beloved
crush.
Jolie smiled–sharp, bitter, and laced with a sarcasm that wouldn’t leave her lips.

“So that’s Mrs. Yost? God, she’s really got nerves of steel. Watching her own husband marry another woman right in front of her.‘
“For real. If it were me, I’d be humiliated beyond belief. How does she still have the face to sit here and watch? You think she’s gonna crash the wedding or something?”
“Crash it? No way. Leroy’s got a reputation for being unhinged. Last time she tried to stir up drama over that beloved crush of his, he tied her sister to a plane like a damn kite. She shut up really quickly after that.”
“Jeez. They say if you want to be part of the Yost family, you better be loyal like a dog–whether you’re staff or the wife. Guess the rumors were true. Jolie’s already been trained like one.”

Every cold, mocking word stabbed Jolie like an arrow, but she couldn’t let
it show.
When the officiant began reading the vows, she looked up and saw Leroy, usually so aloof, wearing the softest expression.
He smiled and said in a clear, gentle voice, “I do, I take Jane as my wife.‘
A wave of sorrow crushed her chest.
“And now, may the flower girl bring the rings.”
Nikita, dressed in a rose–pink tutu dress, walked slowly down the aisle. Tears welled in her little eyes. Leroy shot her a sharp glare.
Startled, she quickly lowered her head and kept moving.
“Isn’t that Jolie’s sister? She’s delivering the rings? That’s a slap to the face
if I’ve ever seen one.”
“No kidding. ‘Mrs. Yost‘? Please. Just a wannabe who got lucky. The real one’s back now, and the substitute knows her time’s up.”
“Looks like it’s time for a new Mrs. Yost!”
Nikita carefully presented the Eternal Love ring to Leroy and Jane. He didn’t hesitate–he slipped it on her finger, then leaned down and kissed
her.
But even as his lips pressed against Jane’s, his eyes were searching–for Jolie. He wanted to see her on the verge of tears.
He lived for that moment: when her eyes filled with pain, when jealousy
twisted her face.
That’s how he fed his ego–by reminding her she was nothing but a

And then-

A deafening explosion split the sky open above the wedding hall.

The next second, thousands of photos rained from above like a cursed blessing-
Every one of them showed Jane in filthy, compromising positions. Naked. Shameless: Exposed.
The guests screamed. Cameras flashed. Chaos erupted.
Smoke billowed in, thick and blinding. No one could see a thing.
And in the madness, Nikita vanished.
Jolie didn’t run–she moved with purpose.
She slipped into the restroom, yanked out a blade she’d hidden for this exact moment, and bit down hard.
With one ruthless motion, she sliced open her arm, dug in, and ripped out the GPS tracker Leroy had implanted in her body like she was his pet.
Blood poured down her arm. But she didn’t flinch.
Outside the door, a man waited in the shadows. Jolie dropped the bloodied chip into his hand.
Her voice was calm. Icy. Final.
“Goodbye, Leroy.”
