Arlene nodded and followed behind Albert as they left.
“Arlene! Brendan was really mad, this was the first time Arlene had defied him.
He subconsciously wanted to chase after her, at that moment he even forgot that there were so many people watching at the banquet.
Paige approached Brendan and nervously said, “Bren, my dad and some friends are over there, come meet them with me.”

“I wasn’t feeling well today, so let’s head back early.” Brendan was distracted the whole time, he just wanted to go find Arlene and ask her what was going
on today.
He already warned her, why did she still hang out with Albert!
Paige gave Brendan a meaningful look, with a hint of worry in her eyes, but still remained gentle and nodded with a smile.“Okay, let’s go back after meeting my dad.”
Brendan nodded and took Paige’s hand.
He and Paige were definitely going to get married. He had loved Paige for many years and had waited for her for so long.
As for Arlene… he just saw her as someone he could sleep with whenever he wanted.

Albert drove Arlene home.
Mr. Stevenson, thank you so much today,” Arlene bowed to Albert after getting off the car.

Arlene didn’t refuse right away. When she had no other choice, she had Albert as a backup plan.
Albert drove away, Arlene returned to the rental house.
Looking at the surroundings of the house, Arlene felt a bit disoriented.

Although the accommodation wasn’t great, it was much more cost–effective than renting a house.
“Did you do your internship in your senior year? Why did you choose to live near the school?” The boss lady chatted with Arlene.
Arlene smiled and said, “I wanted to apply for studying abroad, but if it doesn’t work out, I’ll stay and take the postgraduate entrance exam.”
The boss lady nodded approvingly.“He’s a promising kid.”
The boss lady was a northerner, with a deep voice that made people feel safe when she laughed.
Arlene lived here, she felt more at ease.
Carrying her suitcase back to the room, Arlene sat on the bed and zoned out for a long time.
Let’s go see the supervisor tomorrow, I must secure that study abroad spot.

After dropping Paige off at the Hilton’s mansion, Brendan drove straight to Arlene’s place.
After the password lock was opened, Brendan entered the living room looking very upset.“Arlene! Come out.”
He wanted to pick a fight with Arlene, but the room was empty and clean, which made Brendan’s heart tighten.
I walked quickly to the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen…
There was no sign of Arlene.

He knew very well… as long as they got married, his relationship with Arlene had to end.
But why, still unwilling, also don’t want to let her go.
