Listening to her, it felt like she was talking about someone else’s life. Nothing about it stirred me in the slightest.

I was grabbing lunch at the restaurant downstairs from the branch office when a hesitant voice sounded behind me. “Ivory? Is that you?”
I turned around and saw a vaguely familiar face.
It was Selene Arnell, the girl who used to sit in front of me in high school.
Her eyes widened as she looked me up and down, completely unfiltered, full of surprise and disbelief.
“Oh my god! It really is you! You’ve changed so much!”
