Hazel hadn’t expected an intrusion at the Somerville Manor. Her eyes moved to the man standing beside Minerva. Dressed in a white shirt and black pants, he was tall and strikingly handsome, his appearance almost unreal. His movements had been swift and ruthless, and there was an undeniable aura of cold detachment around him
As Clifford’s wife, Hazel had mingled with the elite circles of Hepham, yet she had never encountered someone like him. Her gaze sharpened as she carefully assessed the man, wary of possibly offending someone with such an imposing presence. Her eyes quickly locked onto a black tattoo on his neck, resembling a symbol she didn’t recognize.
“Who are you? How dare you barge into my home? I could have you arrested!” Hazel quickly regained her composure, signaling her bodyguard to stay back and refrain from making any rash moves.
Could this man be the mafia boss of Hepham? No, it can’t be. He doesn’t fit the description of the mafia boss from the rumors. They speak of an old ugly, cold–blooded man, but this man is young and handsome. His mere presence radiates an aura of nobility and refinement, almost as if he belongs to high society.
She had never heard of anyone so good–looking among the mafia families of Hepham. His appearance alone seemed flawless, almost out of place in this world.
Is he Minerva’s secret lover? But hadn’t she just returned from the countryside? How could she have found a lover so quickly? No, it’s more likely that he’s a subordinate of the mafia boss.
After all, Minerva hadn’t died on her wedding night. Instead, she was free to move around and even return home. Now that she was the wife of the mafia boss, it made sense that he would have someone keeping an eye on her.
“Sir, this is a family matter,” Hazel said. “The truth is, I caught my daughter… seducing my brother. As a newlywed, she shouldn’t be behaving this way!” Hazel was determined to twist the facts, hoping to manipulate the situation in her favor by painting Minerva as the culprit in her fabricated story
Seduce? Minerva seduced her brother?
Zevan’s brows furrowed as he recalled the image of the man being chased by a dog. His displeasure was evident. Turning to Minerva, he asked, “You seduced your stepmother’s brother? I never thought you’d be so reckless.”
Minerva straightened her posture, waving her hand dismissively. “No, no, no, you’ve got it all wrong. I have no interest in older men, I assure you, I haven’t done anything”
Hazel, eager to seize the moment, stepped forward, feigning concern. “Sir, I apologize for my daughter. I’m afraid she’s the type who struggles with loneliness. Whenever she encounters a handsome and wealthy man, she tends to…”
Hazel appeared hesitant to speak, her gaze fixed on Minerva with a hint of embarrassment, as if she were ashamed to have a daughter like her.
“I had no choice but to call my bodyguard to intervene. I owe an explanation to both my family and the mafia boss. I couldn’t allow someone like her–a seductress–under my roof!”
A few of the bodyguards moved forward, eager to take action, but Zevan merely lifted an eyebrow, his gaze sweeping over them with a cold, condescending air. “What? You’re thinking of laying a hand on the wife of the mafia boss?” he asked, his voice dripping with disdain.
The bodyguards immediately grasped the weight of Zevan’s warning, their expressions shifting to one of caution. They were no more than employees of the Somerville family, hired to ensure security, but they knew better than to risk offending the mafia. Their loyalty to the Somervilles didn’t extend to challenging the mafia’s influence.
Zevan surveyed the room with a calculating glance, then let out a low, cold chuckle. “Not bad. You’ve made the right decision. Crossing the mafia never ends well.”
His gaze softened as he turned to Minerva. “It’s time to go back.”
“Oh, all right.”
Minerva quickly followed behind Zevan.
Hazel watched them leave, a mix of fear and anger swirling within her. She knew better than to provoke the mafia, but the

in the mafia houses. To think he even sent such a handsome and capable subordinate to watch over her….
Before leaving. Minerva turned back, her voice cool and stern. “I won’t forget what happened today. Hazel, don’t provoke me, or you’ll be provoking the mafia of Hepham.”
she!
Hazel’s face turned deathly pale as a surge of intense rage coursed through her. How dare that little b*tch threaten her? How dare
