Would anyone believe me if I were to tell them that the mafia boss seduced me with his deep and gentle voice? Certainly, no one would believe that. They would only call me a lunatic!
“We’re even now, so it’s fine. Please let go of me first, Mr. Lemieux. Minerva reached out and pressed against his chest, trying to push him away.
However, Zevan remained unbudging. He even reached out and cradled her petite face in his hands.
His long and slender fingers traced along her cheek before slipping into her raven hair, while his thin lips unexpectedly began to shift downward from her forehead.
Minerva’s feather–like eyelashes quivered, and she dared not move an inch. What… What is he trying to do?
As he gradually drew closer to her, their breaths intermingled
When the distance between them increasingly narrowed, she deftly jabbed a long and thin silver needle into his scalp.
Zevan’s eyes promptly fluttered shut, and he collapsed beside her.
Minerva wasn’t some naive young girl oblivious to the ways of the world. She could let it slide when he had kissed her forehead earlier, but he even wanted to kiss her lips then.
She found the mafia boss gentle and handsome, but that didn’t mean she could trust him wholeheartedly or fall in love with him after spending just a day and a night together.
The fact that he climbed to the position of mafia boss attested to the fact that he had a terrifyingly ruthless and cold–blooded side to him. She was uncertain if such a man might one day decide to end her life over some matter.
After all, they merely got married because of a marriage alliance, with absolutely no feelings between them. She didn’t understand him or his family.
Subsequently, Minerva wanted to get up, but a strong and muscular arm stretched over and wrapped around her shoulder.
She looked up, only to find that Zevan was still asleep.
Despite being asleep, he wouldn’t allow her to leave even in his dreams.
She tried to break free from him, but his fingers gripped her firmly. Afraid of waking him up and having her efforts go to waste, she had no choice but to lie back down.
The couch in the study wasn’t particularly large, making it a bit cramped for two people to sleep together. Thus, Minerva could only lay on her side to avoid taking up too much space.
After she had laid down for a while, a melodious ringtone broke the silence, signaling an incoming call of hers.
Minerva quickly groped for her phone. Initially, she didn’t want to answer it, but the call was from Clifford
At the end of the day, he was her father.
Lying on her side in Zevan’s arms, Minerva answered the call. Her voice was barely above a whisper as she greeted, “Hello,
Dad”
Clifford’s censuring voice promptly drifted into her ears. “Minerva, what on earth happened today? Initially, the person on your uncle’s side had already agreed to invest in Somerville Pharmaceuticals, but I heard that you offended him when you went home today, I don’t know what exactly transpired between you two, but regardless, you must apologize to him! Otherwise, he’ll call off the collaboration with the Somerville family”
“Dad, didn’t Hazel tell you what happened today? She drugged me and that uncle of mine, who has no blood relation to me whatsoever, tried to force himself on me!” Minerva wanted to bellow in anger, but considering that Zevan was sleeping beside her, she didn’t dare raise her voice.
At Somerville Manor, when Hazel heard that, she quickly retorted, “Oh my goodness! What are you talking about. Minerva? USA Could em. libre home talnu and kuud omma TAN mau mid ran wara tien

“Hubby, look at Minerva… On the other end of the phone. Hazel deliberately feigning sadness.

She then added, “The Somerville family is both a family of scholars and a medical family. Our daughter, Kelly, has shown a natural aptitude for medicine since young. Having inherited my beauty, she’s gentle and sweet, hailed as the top socialite in Hepham. This alone speaks volumes about my family’s strict discipline and values. So, how could my brother possibly behave inappropriately?”
That was also the main reason Hazel’s favoritism in the Somerville family had remained undiminished over the y
years.
When Minerva and Kelly were young, they were the best of friends. At that time, Minerva was exceptionally bright, outshining Kelly in every way. But after having been left in the countryside for nearly a decade, she has long since lost her edge. How could she possibly compete with my daughter now?
“Enough! No matter what, you must apologize to your uncle!”
“He’s not my uncle! I share no blood ties with him whatsoever!”
Hearing her rebuttal, Clifford was downright displeased and asserted sternly, “Minerva, you must show up at Bar 1949 tomorrow night on the dot and apologize to your uncle!”
