Chapter 24
A sudden burst of light shone from James’s eyes.
Isabella appreciated his momentary spark of hope, then, she uttered her conditions word by word: “Then get Jessie out of the Keane family first.”
The light on James‘ face solidified inch by inch.
His thin lips were tightly pursed, with a fierce struggle in his eyes.
He thought that this might be the only opportunity given by Isabella.
Isabella did not urge him either, she just looked at him coldly, as if watching a play whose ending she already knew.
Finally, James seemed to have made some kind of decision, he looked up, his eyes bloodshot.
He took out his phone and dialed a number: “Have Jessie move out immediately.”
On the other end of the phone, it seemed like something was said, but James impatiently interrupted: “I don’t want to hear any excuses. Within half an hour, I want her completely gone from the Keane family.”
He hung up the phone and looked at Isabella, his voice hoarse: “Is it okay
now?”
His eyes were full of desperate hope, like a prisoner waiting for a verdict.
Isabella’s smile widened slightly, but the smile did not reach her eyes, instead it was tinged with a chilling coldness.

“Okay.”
She nodded gently.
James breathed a sigh of relief.
“James, she tilted her head and smiled, “Who told you that being redeemed means you have to be forgiven?“”
James suddenly froze, his pupils dilated, looking at her in disbelief.
Like
ike a bucket of ice water poured over my head, chilling me to the bone.
“Do you think that driving away one Jessie can make up for all the harm you’ve done to me?”
Isabella approached him step by step, each step feeling like a heavy blow to his heart.
Can it erase the dignity, sincerity, and honor I have lost?
“Could it erase the nights when I humbly stood before you, shamelessly trying to win your favor?”
“Could it erase your repeated decisions to leave me and choose other women?”
“Now, I am just letting you taste the feeling of being trampled on and abandoned like a worn–out shoe.”
After saying that, she never looked at him again and walked away.
James stood still, feeling ice cold all over, as if all his strength had been drained away.
Originally, this was what she wanted.

I crushed his pride with my own hands, letting him taste the despair that went deep into his bones.
His heart ached, making even breathing difficult.
At that moment, he finally felt, albeit dimly, but incredibly clearly, how deeply Isabella had been hurt by him in the past. He did not give up.
James was like a tireless hunter, stubbornly chasing his prey, even though the prey had already shown its sharp claws and teeth.
Isabella’s arrest operation targeted a notorious arms dealer.
The night was as dark as ink, and the abandoned warehouse in the port was full of danger.
James hid in the dark, his heart clenched tightly.
The sound of fighting suddenly erupted, and the flames tore through the darkness.
Isabella’s figure moved agilely like a leopard, darting through the flames.
An enemy quietly approached from the shadows on the side, with a military knife aimed at Isabella’s back.
James’s pupils shrank suddenly, and he lunged without thinking.
“Be careful!”
“Puff-”
The sharp military knife plunged into his lower back, and a sharp pain. instantly swept through his whole body.
He grunted and tightly grabbed the assailant, shouting with all his

Isabella turned around and saw James lying in a pool of blood, as well as the enemies quickly subdued by Bradley.
She gave James a complex look, then regained her composure and ordered her subordinates to eliminate the remnants.
James woke up in the hospital, his wound burning and throbbing with pain.
The doctor said he almost died, and there would be sequelae in his waist in the future. Rainy days will be particularly difficult to endure.
They stood by James’s bedside, talking quietly and occasionally exchanging smiles.
The scene stabbed James‘ eyes.
Isabella would formally inquire about his condition, and most of the time,
it was Bradley who was communicating with the doctors.
It feels like just completed the task.
James watched as she stood side by side with Bradley.
So right, so harmonious.
The light in his eyes dimmed little by little.
He knew that he had no hope left at all.
Not long after, Gerardo told him with a serious expression, “Mr. Keane, Ms. Coffey and Mr. Jewsbury… will be getting married next month.”
James sat in a wheelchair, looking out at the gray sky outside the window,

The heart that once beat wildly for Isabella is now just a lifeless ember.
“Return to Washington.”
His voice was calm.
During his time away from London, the Keane family had long lost its former glory.
The aftermath of the hacker attack, combined with his lack of intention to manage, left the massive business empire on the brink of collapse.
In the end, they couldn’t hold on and gradually declined.
James returned to the city that once symbolized his supreme power, only to find himself like an outsider.
He never saw Isabella again.
I would only occasionally see her appear in international news as a member of Interpol.
By my side always stood the gentle Mr. Jewsbury.
She smiled brightly, shining like a flower.
Isabella.
These three words became a mark that James could never erase in his entire life.
It was the cinnabar mole on his chest that hurt the most when he had a midnight dream.

It was a love that he had poured all his efforts into, but could never touch again.
Afterwards, he could only use a lifetime of loneliness to repay his once unrivaled arrogance.
