In just one day, the house was completely
transformed.
I placed my favorite plush toys on the bed
and sofa.
Lucas said they were childish, yet I saw him
secretly squishing them out of shape.
く
The gray bedding was replaced with sweet
pink.
The slippers were changed to cute bunny
ones.
I also picked out new pajamas for Lucas; they
were a matching couple’s set.
I placed my favorite fresh–cut flowers in the
living room.
A bunch of vibrantly blooming roses.
Orange–red, as beautiful as the winter sun.
On the marble countertop in the bathroom sat
a pair of porcelain dolls face to face.
A boy and a girl.
Lucas insisted the girl resembled me, with her
round face and cuteness.
I insisted the boy looked like him, clumsy, and
kissable.
We stubbornly refused to concede, neither
giving an inch.
Finally, we decided to place the dolls by the
<
mirror.
To examine ourselves daily.
Until we admitted we resembled the dolls.
After showering, we cuddled together on the
sofa watching a movie.
Lucas brought a fluffy blanket and wrapped
us tightly in it.
The movie was heartwarming.
It told the story of a young couple, from
mutual secret admiration to a happy ending.
In the end, the two were happily living
together with a dog.
It was a heartwarming scene, but I suddenly
felt my nose getting sour.
What if I left one day, what would Lucas do?
He’s so stubborn; he’d do something foolish.
like in my past life.
No, I absolutely couldn’t let him do anything
reckless again.
I sniffed, solemnly holding Lucas‘ face.
<
“Lucas, let’s get a cat, or a dog?”
A hint of alertness flashed in his eyes, Lucas
grabbed my wrist, squeezing it tightly in his
palm.
“Why? Don’t you hate animals?”
