Crash!
The shattering of porcelain was particularly
jarring in the quiet ward.
I glanced sideways.
Jason’s palm was covered in blood, the brown.
medicine mixed with blood dripping onto the
く
floor.
Disgusting.
He stood there, the amusement gone from his
eyes.
Replaced by boundless anger.
But I had no time for him now.
All my attention was on Lucas.
From the moment I said “honey,” Lucas‘ eyes
quickly turned red.
He stiffened, looking up at me in surprise.
A mixture of surprise and excitement surged
in his eyes, finally solidifying into a deep
tremor.
His lips moved, his voice hoarse.
He quickly stepped forward, pulling me tightly
into his arms, whispering in my ear, “Yeah.”
Jason clenched his injured fist, blood gushing
out.
He coughed lightly, raised his injured left
hand, and offered it to me.
<
The smell of blood made me frown.
Lucas silently moved me aside, pulling his
coat to wrap me up.
I peeked out from his arms, my eyelids
covered by a warm hand.
“Don’t look, it’s disgusting.”
Lucas stood in front of me, angrily looking at
Jason.
His disgust was unconcealed.
“You know she’s afraid of pain and blood, and
you still want to disgust her, right?”
A strange feeling welled up inside me.
I pushed Lucas‘ hand away, raising my head
to carefully examine his pale face.
His features were exquisite, exactly like my
memory.
On closer inspection, he seemed even more
sharp than before.
In my memory, Lucas was always quiet and
taciturn.

This kind of unrestrained rebuke was the first
time I had seen.
Apparently, Jason found it unbelievable too.
“None of your business.”
Jason rolled his eyes, his hand trembling as
he reached out.
As if expecting my reaction.
“Jess, I’m hurt.”
If it were before, I would have frantically
searched for ointment, applying it to Jason
while shedding tears.
But now, I snuggled closer to Lucas, glancing
at the dirty hand with disgust.
“Brother, there are doctors and nurses
outside, I can’t cure you.”
“You???”
I impatiently interrupted him, “I’m tired, I want
to go home.”
My eyes accidentally caught sight of
someone’s upturned lips.

Like a happy dog wagging its tail.
