Chapter 2
From the moment she had been reborn, she vowed to avenge Ashlee.
“Ashlee,” a man called out.
Not far away parked a Porsche, and a handsome young man in a suit slowly rolled down the car window,
“Mom and Dad asked me to pick you up. You have suffered a lot in the past two years. We’ll make it up to you.
Alfred’s tone was very formulaic, occasionally revealing a hint of guilt.
He had thought that Ashlee, who had just been released, would be unkempt.
To his surprise, she looked so refreshing, her cheeks flushed with health. She was even more beautiful than she was two years ago.
If it were in the past, Ashlee would be overjoyed to hear those words.
But now, she just stood still, all silent.
Because back then, when they first found her, they said the same thing–that they would make it up to her.
But in truth, no one in the Spencer family had ever liked her. Even her four brothers despised her.
Ashlee, who had craved love and longed for family all her life, had never understood what she’d done wrong.
For an entire year after returning to the Spencer family, she lived cautiously, walking on eggshells, desperately trying to please her family.
She hoped they could see how nice she was and finally accept her.
But all she received in return was double the neglect and disgust.
They never saw her as part of the family.
Everyone looked at her like she was a despicable thief.
Because Sanaa Spencer was the apple of the Spencers‘ eyes.
Everybody in town knew how much the Spencer brothers doted on Sanaa.
They feared Ashlee might steal what belonged to Sanaa, so they treated Ashlee with emotional and verbal abuse.
As for Ashlee’s birth parents, they never let her overshadow Sanaa. In everything, Sanaa came first.
They unconditionally trusted Sanaa and blamed Ashlee for everything.
Every time Ashlee explained herself, they wouldn’t listen, always taking Sanaa’s side.
The day Ashlee was sent to prison, she finally understood why.
Turned out they found her back only to make her Sanaa’s scapegoat.
Recalling how the real Ashlee was bullied to death by her cellmates, the new Ashlee scowled, her eyes turning colder.
In her heart, she whispered to the girl whose body she now inhabited, “You can rest assured. Since I have been reborn in your body, I’ll definitely avenge you.”
Just like those who tormented Ashlee in prison, everyone would get the punishment they deserved!
