Chapter 6
“That should be the case. Nowadays, there are many apps you can use to rent this kind of car. Just a bluff,” Clayton sneered. “I’d like to see how long she can keep up the act.”
Meanwhile, in the Lloyd’s old mansion….
“This illness is also torture for Mom. Why not…”
“No! Mom is only seventy years old, and she hasn’t even written her will yet. How will the property be divided then?”
“Stop arguing, will you? We should calm Mom down first! The argument can solve nothing!” Juliette Lloyd slammed the table angrily.“Now we should think about how to cure Mom!”
Juliette was very well–maintained. In fact, she was over forty years old, but she looked like she was in her thirties.
Although she was the only and youngest daughter of the Lloyd family, she was the one who held the economic power of the whole family and was now the head of the family,
So when she spoke, the two brothers of hers who had been arguing instantly fell silent.
“Easy for you to say. Cure her? How? Mom has been suffering from this strange illness for so many years, and she’s still not cured!” Byron Lloyd, the eldest son of the Lloyd family, sneered.“With the financial resources of our Lloyd family, we have consulted all kinds of experts, but we can’t even name the illness!”
“Who said she can’t be cured,” Juliette said in a deep voice.“Just wait for a while. Maybe a miracle will happen.”
She said in her heart, “She’s out today.
“As long as she’s out, there is a chance.”
“Do you believe that yourself? Even the top experts in the world can’t cure this damn illness. Who else in this world can cure it?” Doreen Hurst, Byron’s wife, snorted coldly.“She has been sick for so many years. If she could be cured, she would have been long ago.”
These words made everyone present feel down.
Mary Lloyd got a strange illness five years ago and would spend half of each day in a coma. Whenever she woke up, she would feel stinging pain all over, which felt like being bitten by millions of ants. It was total torture, and Mary would have convulsions sometimes.
In order to reduce Mary’s pain, the Lloyd family had to ask the doctor to give her sedatives every day and keep her in a prolonged state of sleep. But things couldn’t go on like this forever.
And today, Mary fell ill again. That was why the whole family rushed back to the old mansion.
Just when everyone felt hopeless, a light and calm girl’s voice came from outside the house.
“I can cure her.”
