Atop the penthouse sky garden villa of the Perce Hotel in Ofada, a young lad sat up in bed, gasping for breath.
He had that same old dream again.
At that time, the bedroom door swung open, and his bodyguard, Benjamin Fuller, stepped in, handing over a phone respectfully, “Sir, it’s Mr. Waylon Lawson’s call.”
Nolan took it, propping his head with one hand. “Grandpa?”
Waylon’s voice carried discontent. “You didn’t tell Knight International School about your real identity?”
Nolan scoffed, “In a small place like Embridge, isn’t the identity of the heir of the Sandoval Group enough to turn heads? Is it necessary to bring you into it?”
Before Waylon could respond, Nolan hung up.
What he didn’t tell Waylon was that he didn’t plan to use his identity as the Sandoval Group’s heir either. Being a regular Joe seemed kinda fun.
Benjamin took the phone, adding, “The car’s waiting downstairs, and everything’s set in Embridge.”
Nolan nodded, standing up and walking to the floor–to–ceiling window, gazing at the distant river.
Because of his brother’s death, he’d been under tight protection since birth, with zero freedom. Now, finally, he could live as he pleased.
The next day, Solana was woken up by a car horn.
Frowning, she opened her eyes. The Webb family’s villa was usually super quiet since it was far from the main road, and she rarely heard horns.
It was weird today.
Just as she was thinking that, there came a quick knock on the door.
Solana opened it, and Averie grabbed her hand excitedly. “Solana, Dad gave me a gift. Come downstairs quick. I want to share it with you!”
Without caring if Solana wanted to or not, Averie dragged her downstairs.
‘Share my ass, more like showing off,‘ Solana sneered inside.
Until she was dragged downstairs to the courtyard, Solana stared at the brand–new white Porsche 911 in front of her, completely stunned.
This was it! The car that killed Dad.

She trembled slightly, her eyes fixed on the car in front of her, unconsciously biting her lip.
Averie, seeing her like this, thought that Solana was insanely jealous of her, which made her even more smug inside. She pulled Solana to the passenger seat and said, “How about I take you for a spin? I tested it before; the seats are super comfy and all leather.”
Gloria was overjoyed seeing her daughter so happy. After all, her daughter had endured so much hardship before. If money could help her daughter forget the past, she would be more than willing to spend it.
Solana didn’t get in the car but turned around to ask, “Do you have a driver’s license?”
“Of course! I got mine as soon as I turned eighteen!” Averie replied.
Solana stared at her. “Didn’t you say my parents treated you really badly? How would they let you get your driver’s license?”
Averie choked up and hurriedly explained, “I worked part–time to earn money and secretly took the test.” She turned to look at Gloria as if seeking confirmation. “Mom, you know that nowadays employers require candidates who can drive. It’s good for my job hunting in the future.”
Gloria said with concern written all over her face, “Don’t worry about your job; your dad and I will arrange everything for you.”
Averie nodded.
In fact, it was actually Charles who paid for her driving test. He even said that he would buy her a car after graduation.
She didn’t believe him, of course, thinking, ‘With his financial situation, what kind of car could he afford?
‘A used one? That’d be embarrassing! How could it compare to this seven–figure sports car?‘
Solana didn’t want to get in the car. And Averie didn’t force her either. In the end, she happily went out for a ride with Gloria.
Hana mocked from behind, “What’s there to be proud of when you’ve gone from a princess to a pauper? You should have gotten in the car when asked; Miss this chance, and you think you’ll ever get to ride in such a nice car again? Fat chance!”
Solana laughed as she turned around to look at Hana. “At least she pretended to invite me, did she invite you?”
Hana’s face instantly darkened.
Solana ignored her and went upstairs to freshen up.
On the night of the party, Averie drove this car to the hotel and ended up killing Charles.
If this car hadn’t gone to the hotel, Charles wouldn’t have been in danger.
With this thought, a day before the party, Solana snuck into the garage and stuffed Hana’s cleaning rag into the car’s exhaust pipe.

Sure enough, on the night of the party, Averie excitedly went to the garage, and before long, there was a “boom,” and that beautiful white sports car broke down.
Averie cried for a while on the couch out of anger and demanded that Robert find someone to fix it right away. But since Robert was busy with tonight’s arrangements, he had no time for it.
Gloria comforted her for a bit; eventually, as Averie got busy getting herself dressed up, this matter was put aside.
Solana breathed a sigh of relief. ‘This way, Dad won’t be in any trouble anymore, right?‘
She rummaged through all her clothes in her room. She didn’t pick any of her expensive dresses because it was the first time she would be meeting her dad at night, and she didn’t want him to think she was materialistic.
In the end, she only chose a light blue blouse and white wide–leg pants. Though they weren’t cheap when she bought them, the style was simple enough so as not to create an instant sense of distance.
It was still two hours until the party started.
By now, Averie had tried on nearly a hundred outfits; her bed and floor were covered with different sets of clothes as she struggled with what to wear.
“Mommy! This one looks nice. But I also like this one. And this one too.” Averie compared three outfits on herself.
Gloria stood behind her, smiling indulgently, “If you like them, take all of them. The first for entry, then second for onstage, and the third for cocktail hour.”
Averie’s eyes sparkled. “Can I?”
Gloria held up a dress against her. “Of course. Today is your big day coming home officially; you’re top dog, so do whatever you want!”
“Great! I love you, Mommy.” Averie hugged Gloria excitedly.
At that moment, Hana came in. “Ma’am, Mr. Webb called, saying it’s about time for you to set off.”
“I see,” Gloria replied.
Averie turned around, asking, “What will Solana wear? Hana, go get Solana here.”
“Right away, Miss,” Hana replied.
Soon after Solana was brought by Hana into Averie’s room.
Looking at Solana’s “plain and simple” qutfit, Averie couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh my, Solana, you don’t need to get so used to your future life so early, do you?
“The guests Dad is hosting today are of the utmost importance. Are you dressing like this to embarrass Mom and Dad?”
