Chapter 10 The Final Divorce Procedures
“Sienna, if you really want to atone, then leave here and let Laura have some peace. She doesn’t want to see you.”
“Gabe…” Sienna held onto Gabriel’s hand. “I won’t leave. I want to stay here and take care of Madam Laura. You know, Madam Laura always liked me. Someone must have said bad things about me in front of her…”
“Go, Sienna.
Sienna froze, as if she couldn’t believe her cars.
“I’m tired.”
Sienna looked
at
the tired man in front of her, as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over her head.
She hadn’t expected Gabriel to actually make her leave.
Her face turned pale, and she almost couldn’t stand. Finally, she said softly, “Then I’ll wait for you outside.”
She shot Eleanor a fierce look before quickly running out.
The long hallway was left with just her and Gabriel.
Eleanor looked at the emergency room door, a heaviness in her chest.
She turned to Gabriel. “You should get the divorce papers done sooner.
Since the truth with Laura was out, the final divorce procedures should be on the agenda.

Gabriel opened his mouth to ask about his and Ethan’s situation, but the words caught in his throat, and he finally just said one word, “Okay.”
Eleanor glanced at the man she had loved for many years, and bitterness spread through her.
They had come to this point.
To find out the truth about Margaret’s death, she had to let go of Gabriel.
The emergency room door opened, and the doctor stepped out, removing his mask to reveal a serious face. “The patient mainly suffered a blow to the head, resulting in a mild concussion.”
*
Eleanor sighed with relief. A mild concussion was a relief.
“However…” The doctor paused. “During the rescue, we noticed some organ abnormalities. We recommend further tests to confirm the condition.”
Organ abnormalities!
Eleanor’s legs almost gave out, and she nearly collapsed.
Margaret had also been diagnosed with organ abnormalities, and it was later confirmed to be late–stage cancer.
Marrying Gabriel for three years, it was Laura who had helped her through the hardest times. Laura, who was supposed to be an elder, was more like a mentor and a good friend, filling the gaps in her fractured family.
Anything affecting the internal organs could not be a minor illness.
Eleanor’s heart surged with indescribable pain.
Seeing the doctor’s forced smile, Gabriel also had a bad premonition.
“Have a full examination done. What else can we do?”
“Stay with the patient and talk to her more. Don’t rule out the possibility of post–concussion symptoms.”
After the doctor left, Eleanor looked at Gabriel and noticed the weariness on his handsome face.

After her brother’s death, her dad had also passed away. Now, her mom was seriously ill. Eleanor realized that this seemingly glamorous Mr. McKenzie was actually like her, lacking family ties.
Watching his discomfort, Eleanor’s voice remained calm. “The results aren’t out yet. Maybe it won’t be so bad.”
Gabriel stared at her, silent for a while. He pressed his lips together and nodded.
The nurse brought the unconscious Laura into a room. As Gabriel and Eleanor were about to approach, Sienna, who had been waiting, immediately ran over.
“I saw Madam Laura move into a regular room. Is she okay? Nothing happened, right?” Sienna’s face showed a hint of joy. “I knew Madam Laura had good fortune, nothing would happen to her.”
Her cheerful tone felt out of place in the quiet atmosphere.
Seeing that neither Eleanor nor Gabriel were smiling, Sienna choked on her words. “What… what’s wrong?”
home, Sienna.” Gabriel finally found his voice. “We’ll talk about it next time.”
Once again, he was making her leave.
Sienna’s anger was instantly extinguished.
Finally, she held her head high and nodded. “Okay.”
If it were before, she would have directly asked why, but with Eleanor here, she feared that one wrong move would push Gabriel into someone else’s arms.
She could only obediently nod, pretending not to know anything.
“Then I’ll go. Gabe, don’t tire yourself out. Take good care of yourself.”
Sienna smiled through her tears and turned to leave.
When Sienna was gone, Eleanor spoke up, “I want to stay at the hospital and take care of Laura.”
Seeing that she was determined, Gabriel suppressed his words of refusal. “Okay.”
His voice was low and hoarse but still magnetic. “Thank you.”
“No need to thank me. I’m doing this willingly. After all, Laura has always been good to me.” As she said this, she seemed to remember something and immediately added, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell Laura anything about our divorce. Remember, city hall at ten o’clock the day after tomorrow.”
Her tone was natural, and she smiled sweetly.
Watching her casually discuss the divorce, Gabriel’s gaze grew darker.
Is she so eager to divorce me?
Every time she calmly mentioned it, his good mood would be ruined.
Eleanor didn’t look at his expression and immediately turned to walk toward the hospital room.
Some things had to be brought up by someone. Perhaps by her bringing it up, it would appear more dignified.
He had once given her warmth, saving her from the abyss, but for Margaret, she had to sever these ties.
Laura had slept for a day and a night, and Eleanor had stayed by her side for the same amount of time.
The sunlight streamed in, landing on Eleanor’s eyelids.
Suddenly, Laura moved. Eleanor quickly lifted her head. “Laura, are you awake?”

“What?” Laura’s face stiffened.
“Who are you? Why didn’t I know I had such a big daughter?” Laura’s face showed clear displeasure. “Where’s my son?”
She craned her neck, looking outside.
Seeing her reaction, Eleanor’s heart sank.
Laura’s state wasn’t right!
Someone stood outside the door, and seeing Laura stretch her neck, quietly walked in.
It was Sienna, though Eleanor wasn’t sure how long she had been waiting outside.
“Oh… Madam Laura…” Sienna wobbled over.
Though Laura disliked her, she still intended to apologize. Even if Laura continued to hate her, she needed to appear kind in front of Gabriel.
Laura stared at her motionlessly.
Sienna’s heart tightened.
She was scared that Laura would send her away again.
Sienna froze.

However, to her surprise, Laura actually waved her over. “It’s you? Come here, let me take a good look at you.”

Although she felt Laura’s attitude was strange, she still cautiously walked over.
Eleanor furrowed her brows.

Seeing that Sienna still stood there, Laura spoke in a tone that was neither warm nor cold. “You can leave now.”
The sharp contrast in her icy attitude caused Sienna to grin.
Laura is something else. Has she lost her mind? She actually tells her precious daughter–in–law to leave.
Sienna gave Eleanor a disdainful look, playfully and smugly saying, “Don’t you understand Madam Laura’s words? She told you to leave.”
