Chapter 11 Birthday Party
Laura smiled sweetly as she patted Sienna’s hand, saying, “You and Garrett are about to get engaged. If you need anything, just tell me, don’t hesitate.”
Garrett?
Eleanor furrowed her brow in realization. Laura’s memory was failing.
She turned to call for the doctor, but bumped into someone’s chest.
The familiar scent filled her nostrils, and Eleanor instantly realized who she had collided with. She quickly pushed him away..
Her strength was great, causing Gabriel to stagger.
Gabriel’s cold face grew even colder.
Just then, Laura’s excited voice rang out. “Garrett, you’re here?”
Gabriel furrowed his brow. Garrett?
Eleanor whispered. “Her memory is failing.”
After saying that, she took long strides out the door, glancing back unconsciously.
Laura laughed joyously, a side of her Eleanor had never seen before.
It turned out that Laura’s emotional struggle had always been with the McKenzie family’s eldest son, Garrett.
After the doctor finished the examination, he called both her and Gabriel aside.
“The patient’s memory is impaired. This is a rare issue, and we can’t rule out the possibility of other conditions affecting it.”
“How long until her memory can recover?” Gabriel asked.
That day, Laura had called him, saying she had something very important to tell him. Before he could find out what it was, this happened.
Before the doctor could answer, Sienna interrupted, “Why should she recover?“,
”
“Gabe, don’t you think Madam Laura looks happy like this? Do you really want her to regain her memory and face that pain again?”
The atmosphere grew tense.
Gabriel furrowed his brows, then looked at the doctor.

The doctor nodded. “This young lady is correct. Mood is important. If the memory loss isn’t severe, it may gradually recover over time, without forcing her to remember.”
In Sienna’s expectant gaze, Gabriel’s Adam’s apple moved slightly, his expression unreadable. “Then let it be.”
Sienna smiled. Of course, Gabe still cares about
She sweetly linked her arm with Gabriel’s. “By the way, Gabe, you don’t know, but Madam Laura has forgotten Ms. Weston.”
Gabriel turned to look at Eleanor.
Eleanor’s eyes curved slightly, her emotions unreadable.
Sienna was merely deceiving herself. If Laura regained her memory, the first person she would deal with would be Sienna.
Sienna ignored this, continuing, “Gabe, I want to personally take care of Madam Laura. I don’t trust the caregiver.”
Thinking of Margaret, Eleanor quickly shot back without hesitation, “No.”

She knew how difficult caregiving was. Sienna, a young lady from a wealthy family, could never take proper care of Laura. Moreover, with her history, who knew if she would harm Laura again…
Eleanor could not let Sienna have another chance. She turned to Gabriel, speaking coldly, “I advise you to think it over. Sienna can’t take care of her.”
“What do you mean? Don’t tell me you still want to shamelessly get close to Madam Laura? The last thing she wants right now is to see you. Are you intentionally making her uncomfortable?” Sienna spoke earnestly, though she was actually worried Eleanor might care for Laura and help her memory return.
Eleanor was about to respond when Gabriel interrupted, “You should rest. I’ll handle the rest.”
His dark eyes were emotionless, and his words remained cold.
The doctor had said Eleanor had stayed up all day and night, and if she kept going, her body wouldn’t hold up.
Eleanor’s breath caught. The words on the tip of her tongue were swallowed.
She lowered her head to the floor, and by the time she regained her senses, they had already left.
She stood in the hospital corridor for a long time, until someone patted her shoulder.
“Ms. Weston.”
A pleasant male voice reached her ears.
Eleanor turned around and saw Ethan. A smile spread across her face. “What are you doing here?”
“Here on business.” Ethan moved the bag behind his back and handed her an invitation card. “There’s a party in a few days, my dad’s birthday. Want to come?”
His eyes, shaped like peach blossoms, narrowed as he smiled with a playful, carefree attitude. “Now that you’re divorced, don’t linger on the past. Who knows, maybe you’ll find someone you like at the party!”
Eleanor took the invitation. It felt thick in her hand, clearly made from special materials.
She had heard that the Xander family’s parties had strict entry requirements, with many people trying and failing to get in. The Xander family always limited the number of guests, and there were even live streams and scalpers for tickets.
The Xander family was also the richest family, and over time, their parties became legendary.
“I’ve heard your family’s parties have strict entry requirements. Don’t you think someone like me will break the rules by going?” She teased, playing with the invitation in her hand.
Ethan chuckled helplessly. “There are requirements, but you’re my friend, so you’re qualified.”
Thinking of how he had sacrificed his image just to help her escape, Eleanor felt a warmth in her heart.
He could indeed be considered a friend.
“Then I’ll accept the invitation. Since it’s your dad’s birthday party, I’ll make sure to be there on time.”
Seeing her agree, Ethan let out a sigh of relief.
For some reason, he really wanted to introduce her to his family.
He had just delivered the items to the hospital today. The results would take a week. They could have been expedited, but to avoid attracting attention, he had chosen the normal procedure.
Many people were watching the Xander family’s every move, and they still hadn’t figured out how his sister went missing. He didn’t want any further accidents, so he hadn’t told anyone else about this.
If she really was his sister, his parents would definitely react upon meeting her.
This party would likely bring some answers.

“By the way, I heard you were adopted?”
Ethan’s question surprised her, and she nodded. “My grandma found me in a trash heap.”
“How old were you when she found you? What were you wearing? Did you have any other belongings with you?” Ethan’s questions were urgent, coming one after another.
Seeing the confusion on Eleanor’s face, Ethan quickly added, “Sorry, I’m just excited. My sister also went missing, so I unconsciously feel a need to care for others in the same situation.”
So that is it.
Eleanor smiled softly. She had been wondering why Ethan was so enthusiastic toward her. It was because she reminded him of his missing sister.
She envied that girl for having such a good brother, unlike herself, who had been abandoned.
“My grandma told me when she found me, I was only wrapped in a piece of cloth. If she hadn’t found me, I would have either starved or frozen to death. My situation is different from your sister’s. I was abandoned by my birth parents.”
