Chapter 19 The Answer Was Becoming Clear
Ethan was about to step forward but was stopped by Oscar.
“With what right do you think you can help?” Oscar’s tone was calm, but his words were ice–cold.
Ethan halted, his eyes fixed on Sienna as if, should she dare to harm the woman in front of him, he would devour her in an instant.
Seeing that Ethan had restrained himself, Oscar withdrew his hand and shifted his gaze toward the woman standing tall not far away.
She was still in the same red dress, stunningly alluring, facing Sienna without the slightest fear, as if she had some courage to spare.
Sienna, never having been slapped, especially not in front of so many people, was furious. She wanted to retaliate, but the woman in front of her seemed to know exactly what she was about to do, quickly turning and walking away.
Eleanor, stop right there!” Sienna was furious. Somehow, she found the strength to chase after her and grabbed the shoulder strap of Eleanor’s long dress.
With a tug, the dress would fall.
Sienna grinned wickedly and pulled back hard, only to have a hand suddenly press down on hers.
She looked up in anger, meeting Ethan’s face.
He disgustedly pried her hand off, his eyes filled with danger. “Ms. Sienna, you’re supposed to be cultured. How could you come up with something like this?”
Sienna pulled her hand away. “What? Are you upset?”
Ethan’s lips curled into a dangerous smirk.
“Mr. Ethan, I didn’t expect you’d be interested in a woman who’s already been used.”
“A woman who’s been used?” Ethan smiled faintly, gripping her chin. “Are you talking about yourself? Ms. Sienna, you’re quite the charmer. I wouldn’t mind making you the most used woman.
With that, he cast a wicked glance at her vulnerable spot.
Sienna’s face turned bright red.
The interaction between them was charged with ambiguity, and passersby couldn’t help but glance in their direction.
His touch seemed gentle but was firm, soon making her gums taste blood.
The man in front of her was a devil.
Fear suddenly flickered in Sienna’s eyes.
Eleanor hadn’t gone far. Seeing Ethan helping her again, she decided to stand aside and watch.
If he was willing to help, she would accept it. She wasn’t someone who’d refuse such a favor.
A voice called to her.
“Ms. Weston.”
The man was dressed in a white suit, his slightly curly hair tied back, gold–rimmed glasses, and a refined smile.
“Mr. Oscar.”
Eleanor noticed he was holding a fruit basket and other gifts.
“I heard Madam Laura is unwell. The family asked me to visit. Could you show me to her room?”

Oscar was polite, but his words made it impossible to refuse.
Since he had made it to this floor, he clearly knew about Gabriel’s mom’s hospital room.
Eleanor glanced at the emergency room, estimating that it would be a while before anyone came out.
She nodded and walked forward, with Oscar following beside her.
“Ms. Weston, what exactly is your relationship with Ethan?”
Eleanor stopped in her tracks.
Looking into Oscar’s brown eyes behind the gold–rimmed glasses, she knew he had misunderstood.
“I’m just friends with him.” She didn’t want her relationship with Ethän to be misinterpreted, so she explained, “Just good friends. You can ask him if you don’t believe me.”
Had Ethan had any feelings for her, she wouldn’t have gotten so close to him.
Ethan protected her like a brother would his sister, and in his eyes, there was no trace of desire a man might have for a
Woman.
That was also why she dared to be in close contact with Ethan.
“Ms. Weston, do you know that he nearly ruined the cooperation with the Sullivan family because of you?”
Eleanor pressed her lips together, remaining silent.
As expected, Ethan had made his move, but this was only the beginning.
Seeing her expression unchanged, Oscar quickly guessed that she had already known about this.
Although Ethan had always disliked Sienna, it had never reached the point of disrupting the cooperation.
Even though he was headstrong and willful, he never acted recklessly in major matters. If there wasn’t a compelling reason, he wouldn’t have done something like this.
After seeing Eleanor and Sienna facing off earlier, he quickly deduced the reason.
Everything Ethan did was for Eleanor.
“Though Ethan is loyal to his friends, he has never gone this far for anyone,” Oscar said.
The scandal with Gabriel, disrupting meetings, everything absurd had been for her.
Even someone as composed as Oscar had doubts now.
If this level of treatment isn’t love, then could it be because of family?
“Ms. Weston, as far as I know, you and Gabriel haven’t finalized your divorce yet.” Oscar’s tone softened. “Once the divorce is done, it won’t be too late to be friends with Ethan.”
At this point, it was clear.
She saw Ethan as a good friend and didn’t want any misunderstandings with his family.
“Rest assured, from now on, I will keep my distance from him.”
Ethan had done what he said, and their deal was over.
Seeing her cooperate so willingly, Oscar also shared some good news with her.
“We can no longer continue the cooperation with the Sullivan family. As for that land, we will find another partner.”
Eleanor smiled.

As long as Sienna’s family didn’t team up with the Xander family, she had nothing to fear.
“But there is one thing I want to remind you of,” Oscar said. He hadn’t intended to meddle, but seeing her smile, he couldn’t help adding more. “The Sullivan family isn’t one to be taken lightly. Their grandpa’s generation built their empire through underhanded means.”
Though the country was cracking down on crime, powerful families like the Sullivan family, who had been strong from the start, likely had other backup plans.
The Xander family was not afraid, but if Eleanor divorced Gabriel, she might become a target for the Sullivan family.
It was said that every heir of the Sullivan family had blood on their hands.
After all, with their upbringing…
Oscar frowned, seemingly uneasy.
“Thanks for the warning,” Eleanor said with a smile, not taking it seriously.
When Sienna killed Margaret, she had already become an enemy of the Sullivan family.
The Sullivan family weren’t innocent, or else they wouldn’t have raised someone like Sienna.
She took Oscar to Laura’s hospital room. As soon as she returned to the emergency room, she saw the door open.
Gabriel was being pushed out.
Sienna rushed forward, asking urgently, “How is he?”
Eleanor stood aside, watching as the young doctor removed his mask. This was a different doctor from the one earlier. This one was young and slim.
“He’s not in immediate danger, but we’ll have to see how the treatment progresses. As long as the wound doesn’t get infected, there shouldn’t be any major issues.”
That voice…
Eleanor looked up sharply.
The young doctor smiled faintly at her. “Is there anything else?”
Eleanor tightened her fingers, slowly lowering her gaze.
This was the same doctor who had talked to Sienna before.
She couldn’t have heard wrong.
Gabriel had been there at the time, so she hadn’t heard everything, but even the bits she caught were enough to plant a seed of suspicion.
This doctor knew Sienna, and he had promised to help her cover things up.
What kind of situation would make a doctor hide something?
The answer was becoming clear.
Eleanor gritted her teeth, suppressing the rising anger inside.
