Chapter 20 Our Sister Is Coming Back
At that moment, the doctor suddenly looked at her. “By the way, I remember you’re a family member of Laura Hewitt in room 666. Her results have come in as well.”
He quickly walked into the nearby office, retrieved the diagnosis, and handed it to Eleanor.
When Eleanor saw the words “malignant tumor,” her brow furrowed, and her heart sank deeply.
She held the results and walked toward Gabriel’s room. He had already woken up, though his complexion was pale.
Eleanor tightened her grip on the diagnosis, and Gabriel looked at her, speaking, “Give it to me. I can handle it.”
Though he had already known the result, he fell silent for a long time after reading the diagnosis.
Eleanor wanted to comfort him but didn’t know where to begin.
One couldn’t advise others on suffering they hadn’t experienced themselves, especially when they had already gone through Lit.
Such results made comforting words useless, especially when one had to force a smile in front of others.
I’ll step out for a bit. Call me if you need anything.”
Right now, Gabriel needed some peace,
However, it was clear that someone else didn’t share the same awareness. Sienna was sitting next to Gabriel and showed no sign of leaving.
From a distance, Eleanor could still hear Sienna sweetly advising, “Madam Laura can’t handle any more stress…”
After leaving, she headed straight to the doctor’s office. There were some things she needed to clarify.
The doctor was writing something on paper, and when he heard the knock, he looked up gently, meeting her clear, beautiful
gaze.
Eleanor noticed the name tag on his chest, Nelson Larson.
“Sorry to bother you. I have some questions for you, Dr. Nelson.”.
Her voice was soft and pleasant, but her gaze was sharp and penetrating.
Nelson paused for a moment before quietly responding, “Come in.”
“My grandma stayed in this hospital for over half a year, and I know all the doctors here. How come I haven’t seen you before, Dr. Nelson?”
“I was abroad for further studies and only recently returned.”
“Oh…” Eleanor tightened her fingers, her nails digging into her flesh. “Dr. Nelson, do you know Sienna?”
Nelson gave her a long, thoughtful look, his eyes unclear.
Eleanor smiled faintly, the corners of her mouth curling slightly, but her eyes held an edge.”
She had heard the key parts of their conversation clearly.
What exactly did he want to help Sienna hide?
Time passed slowly before Nelson spoke, his voice calm and soft. “I know her, but we’re not close.”
“Then, Dr. Nelson, what do you think of this scenario, a cancer patient suddenly passing away in the hospital, not due to their illness but because of heart failure triggered by stress, and the security cameras just happen to be broken? How likely is it that this was caused by someone?”
Nelson seemed caught off guard by the question, his expression momentarily startled.

But soon, he regained his composure.
“The risk of human intervention is high. No one would dare to do something like that in a hospital, Ms. Weston. Are you sure you’re not misunderstanding something?” His words were measured, and his slender face showed no sign of breaking.
From the moment he said he wasn’t close to Sienna, Eleanor knew she wouldn’t get anything out of him.
“You’re right, the risk of one person doing something like that is indeed very high.”
But what if it was more than one person? What if there was an accomplice?
Eleanor’s expression remained indifferent. Even if Nelson denied it, she was already half certain.
The matter with Margaret had now opened up a new lead.
In Gabriel’s room, Gabriel held the phone, listening to his assistant’s report.
“Mr. McKenzie, why don’t you want me to continue investigating Mrs. McKenzie and Mr. Ethan’s relationship? We were about jto make a breakthrough…”
“No need to investigate further.” Gabriel’s tone was calm.
Since it was her decision, he should try to let her go.
“Are you really going to divorce?” The assistant was taken aback. “Honestly, Mrs. McKenzie is quite a catch.”
Mrs. McKenzie looks like the perfect wife and mother, much more reliable than Ms. Sienna. If she were with Mr. Ethan, it would truly be a waste for someone like her…
“Keep an eye on the Sullivan family’s movements. Also, assign some people to protect her. You don’t need to get involved in anything else.”
“Got it…”
Gabriel hung up the phone, a bad feeling growing as he thought of the Sullivan family’s methods.
The Sullivan family was currently under Chadwick Sullivan’s control, known for his ruthlessness.
He didn’t want to see Eleanor getting into trouble.
Elsewhere, in the underground parking lot, Ethan was unwillingly pushed into the car by Oscar.
“Why do you need to bring me along? You can go back on your own,” Ethan growled, kicking the car door hard, leaving a footprint.
Passersby who saw his decisive kick couldn’t help but wince.
This car was a global limited edition!
“I’m taking you to avoid trouble. There are so many reporters outside. Do you want to make tomorrow’s headlines?” Oscar smiled slyly, like a crafty fox.
Ethan sat in the car, crossing his arms, sneering. “What headlines haven’t I been in? Do you think I’m afraid of that?”
Oscar was speechless.
“What did you tell her just now?” Ethan narrowed his eyes.
Oscar told the truth, “I told her to keep her distance from you.”
Ethan remained silent for a while.
“Oscar.” For once, Ethan spoke with seriousness. “She looks like Aunt Hannah.”
“What did you say?” Oscar’s smile faded slowly.

Ethan repeated. “Do you remember, when Joanna was born, she looked a lot like Aunt Hannah when she was a child? Back then, everyone thought she’d grow up to look just as beautiful as Aunt Hannah.”
His words pulled Oscar’s memory back to twenty years ago.
When Joanna had just been born, many people had indeed said the same thing, but back then Ethan was only a little over one year old. It was surprising that he remembered this so clearly.
“Even if she looks like Aunt Hannah, it doesn’t mean anything. There are so many people in the world, and it’s not hard to find two who resemble each other. Don’t forget, we’ve searched all of Newayne, and Joanna can’t still be here.”
“Among all of us, only Aunt Hannah and I spent the most time together. The way Eleanor looks now is almost identical to Aunt Hannah when she was younger. Do you think this is just a coincidence?” Ethan scoffed. “I knew you wouldn’t believe me. I just hope you’re not proven wrong later.”
Over the years, in the search for Joanna, countless people had come forward, claiming to be their lost sister, but none of them had made him feel this way.
Blood relations were hard to define. The moment he saw Eleanor, he had felt a sense of familiarity.
He was certain that Eleanor must be Joanna.
Luckily, Ethan felt nothing more than sibling affection for Eleanor, not the messy kind of love.
Seeing his certainty, Oscar hesitated, wondering if he should tell him the other truth.
“Ethan, Eleanor can’t be Joanna.” Oscar took out a file from beside the car and handed it to him. “But our sister is indeed coming back.”
Ethan frowned as he took it, flipping through the pages, and saw several photos of a short–haired girl, smiling boldly and confidently.
Below the photos was the girl’s profile.
Oscar gently explained, “She’s Joanna’s classmate abroad. Joanna noticed she looked like Dad and investigated her identity. From her birth date and other details, she matches Joanna.”

Ethan carefully examined the girl’s features. Her nose and eyes did indeed resemble their dad’s.
He handed the file back to Oscar. “How sure are you?”
Oscar smiled easily. “Eighty percent.”
“That confident?” Ethan pursed his lips, unsure whether he felt disappointed or happy.
Could it be that everything is really just a misunderstanding?
