Chapter 23 Do Not Disappoint Me
After saying that, she took out her phone, preparing to make a call.
Sienna’s heart raced, and she quickly looked at Gabriel, who frowned as well.
His phone was right next to him. He hadn’t changed his personal number in all these years, and just one call would reveal everything.
Sienna realized this too.
She feared that if Laura’s memory returned, things would go wrong. She thought it would be better if things stayed hidden. If the truth came out, everything would be ruined.
Determined to stop Laura, Sienna stepped forward and said, “Madam Laura, there’s no need to call Gabriel. He has an exam soon. I can take care of Garrett, so you can relax.”
Laura was silent for a moment, and upon hearing Sienna’s words, she stopped insisting.
“Then take good care of Garrett. I’ll leave now.”
Once Laura left, Sienna dared to lift her head and look at Gabriel.
Thinking about how she had addressed him earlier, Sienna awkwardly apologized, “Gabe, I’m sorry. You’ve had to go along with this lie, and I know it’s been tough.”
Gabriel’s gaze darkened as he was about to explain that their marriage was just for show, but Sienna’s phone rang.
Sienna picked up the phone and saw her dad’s name, “Chadwick,” on the screen.
Her dad rarely called her.
Sienna answered, and Chadwick’s cold voice cut through the airwaves.
“Sienna, how could you offend someone from the Xander family? Didn’t I tell you to build a good relationship with them? We’re negotiating with them for a project, and now you’ve messed it up! How could you be so careless?”
Chadwick’s harsh words overwhelmed her. With Gabriel right there, Sienna felt her face burn, mortified and embarrassed.
“Dad, I remember. I’ve been getting along with the Xander family, just like you asked. When Jolene insulted me last time, I didn’t say a word. I’ve made sure not to offend anyone related to the Xander family. What happened? Is there something wrong at home?”
“Are you sure you haven’t offended anyone from the Xander family?”
“I’m sure.”
“Then what about Ethan?”
Sienna was stunned.
The root of the issue was found.
Chadwick scoffed, “You’ll go to the Xander family tomorrow to apologize to Ethan. You need to keep apologizing until he forgives you.”
“Why?” Sienna bit her lip, feeling wronged.
She could get along with anyone from the Xander family, but she and Ethan had never gotten along. The thought of apologizing to him was humiliating.
“Dad, you know Ethan and I have never gotten along. Even if I apologize, he won’t take it seriously, and he’ll mock me
instead.”
She could already imagine how Ethan would mock her.

Chadwick, knowing that Ethan would likely make things difficult on purpose, became anxious and sternly said, “When we were negotiating the cooperation with the Xander family, Ethan deliberately sabotaged it.”
“What?” Sienna’s eyes widened, a chill running down her spine.
Though she and Ethan had always disliked each other, Ethan had always been fair and never let personal matters affect the two families. This was why she had dared to go head–to–head with him.
She hadn’t expected Ethan to intentionally ruin the cooperation this time.
This deal was extremely important. In fact, whether the Sullivan Group could expand further after going public depended on this cooperation with the Xander family.
If it was really ruined because of her, it wouldn’t just be her dad facing the board’s wrath, the whole company could be in trouble.
To secure the deal with the Xander family, they had even put all other collaborations on hold.
If this deal falls through…
The more Sienna thought about it, the more terrifying it seemed.
“Sienna, don’t disappoint me.” After saying that, Chadwick hung up.
Sienna collapsed into the chair, her face pale.
“What’s wrong?”
Gabriel’s question snapped Sienna out of her thoughts. She steadied herself and was about to tell him everything, but then stopped herself.
She was the Sullivan family’s daughter. She couldn’t let Gabriel see the flaws in her family.
She couldn’t let him think she wasn’t good enough for him.
“It’s nothing. My dad just mentioned some work–related issues, but it’ll be sorted out soon.”
