Chapter 27 She Was About to Be Destroyed
Hearing the weight behind his words, Eleanor’s heart sank.
Chadwick was no ordinary man. He had already uncovered the reason behind the failed collaboration so quickly.
But this was his territory. If she admitted it now, there was no telling what he might do.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to admit it. She couldn’t.
“Mr. Chadwick, I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” she steadied herself, pressing her lips together. “I’ve only met Ethan a few times. That collaboration has nothing to do with me.”
“Gabriel’s wife, Ethan’s rumored girlfriend… Ms. Weston, who would have thought Sienna would offend someone as formidable as you?” He lit a cigarette, took a drag, and exhaled slowly.
The smoke had a strange scent, making Eleanor instinctively lean back in distaste.
Chadwick caught the subtle movement and smirked before calling a bodyguard over. “Light one for Ms. Weston. Let her have
a taste.”
Eleanor’s brows knitted together. “No need. I don’t smoke.”
“Oh, but young people should learn. If you don’t know how, now’s the perfect time to start.” His last words slithered out through clenched teeth.
Eleanor eyed the unfamiliar cigarette, her heart pounding.
She wasn’t afraid of smoking, but there was no telling what was in that cigarette.
Since Chadwick already knew about the failed deal, he wouldn’t let her leave without forcing her into something.
“Ms. Weston, since Ethan ruined the deal for you, surely you can help us secure it again? This collaboration determines the future of the Sullivan family. We can’t afford your grudge. I’m willing to overlook what you did, but you have to make the Xander family agree to work with us again.”
Chadwick’s tone left no room for negotiation.
A bodyguard stepped forward, lighting the cigarette.
The moment the scent hit her nose, Eleanor’s head felt light.
There was definitely something
ong with this cigarette.
Her mind raced. She bit down on her lip, the pain helping her
stay
alert.
Locking eyes with Chadwick, she clenched her teeth and said, “Mr. Chadwick, you’re mistaken. The failed deal has nothing to do with me, and I don’t have the power to change that.”
Oscar had told her the Xander family would never work with the Sullivans again. That meant they had their own reasons.
“So, Ms. Weston, you’re refusing to help?” Chadwick stood up, his expression darkening.
He had already confirmed Ethan was the reason for the deal’s failure. He expected this young woman to be easily frightened into confessing, yet she was dead set on opposing the Sullivan family.
“Ms. Weston, you have no family. Gabriel is about to divorce you. The McKenzie family won’t protect you. Standing against the Sullivan family is unwise.”
This was a final warning.
Eleanor said nothing, sitting stiff–backed on the couch.
Her long hair was pinned up with a single hairpin, a few loose strands framing her delicate face.
She was striking. No wonder Ethan had gone out of his way to shield her.

This girl was indeed something.
Unfortunately, she was about to be destroyed.
If the deal couldn’t be salvaged, he had half a mind to kill her himself.
He refused to accept that a lifetime of power and dominance could be undone by a mere woman.
“Ethan sabotaged our deal because of you. Even if I cut off one of you. hands, Gabriel wouldn’t be able to say a word.” To
Chadwick, her only real backing was Gabriel.
Ethan’s stance didn’t matter. She would never become part of the Xander family. At best, she’d be Ethan’s plaything.
She is refusing to yield, huh?
Chadwick’s face turned ruthless.
“Bring them all in,” he ordered the bodyguards. “Let’s have some fun with Ms. Weston.”
The bodyguard nodded and left.
Moments later, five men sauntered in, led by the scar–faced man.
They grinned as they entered, peeling off their shirts and tossing them to the floor.
It had been a while since they’d had a treat like this.
Times like these meant pleasure and a generous reward.
