Golden Boy 7

Golden Boy 7

Chapter 7

He pulled out a video. “Need me to handle this for you?”

Strangely, he was asking for my opinion instead of just deciding for me–so different from Marcus,

I looked at the person in the video, still feeling hatred toward her.

“Can you help me call the police?”

He raised an eyebrow. “Just call the cops?”

I looked at him confused. “And help me get that dress back?”

He looked down and patted my head, his mouth curving in an unreadable smile,

“Little crybaby’s still too nice,”

“Oh, wanna call your dad?” He glanced at my foot.

Since Mom died, Dad had treated me like his precious jewel.

When he found out I was hurt, he rushed to Jefferson the next day.

I wasn’t even in pain anymore, but seeing Dad made the tears fall automatically.

He hugged me tight. “My poor Joy, you’ve been through so much.”

“That Marcus kid still wants to marry you–what a joke!”

Seeing my confusion, Dad explained that Marcus’s dad had come to propose a few days ago. He wanted Marcus and me to get married soon.

“Dad, you didn’t agree, right?”

Dad lifted his chin proudly. “Of course not! I haven’t even asked my precious daughter what she wants.”

“But now, even if you wanted to agree, I wouldn’t! Marcus doesn’t deserve you!”

Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Ethan came in with gentle smile.

“Hello, sir. I’m here representing the honors program to check on Joy.”

Dad looked at me questioningly.

I pursed my lips.

“I switched to business. He’s my upperclassman. He helped me this time and when I had the allergic reaction.”

Somehow they hit it off immediately, and Dad was soon singing Ethan’s praises.

Before leaving, he patted Ethan’s shoulder.

“I’m leaving Joy in your care, Ethan. She’s spoiled rotten by me–please be patient with her.”

“You’re too kind, sir. Joy’s hardworking and motivated, very sweet and thoughtful. Everyone loves her.”

Dad smiled so hard his crow’s feet showed. He turned to me.

“Joy, you listen to Ethan, okay? Dad’s got work stuff–I’ll visit again in a couple days.”

Me: “2”

Did I just get sold out while Dad helped count the money?

Chapter 7

I spent seven days in the hospital with Ethan and the caregiver looking after me.

I got bored and scrolled through TikTok, seeing Chelsea posting as Marcus’s girlfriend, updating her love diary online-

She shared photos of gifts Marcus had given her over three years, his encouragement, the romantic confession at Lover’s Peak, photos from the welcome party…

Her journey from a mountain village to the city, reconnecting with her sponsor–it made her a minor influencer with lots of supportive comments.

A few days ago, she started crying online about my “obsessive pursuit” of Marcus, calling me a shameless homewrecker.

People were planning to come to campus to confront me,

They called me a homewrecker, a spoiled rich girl….

But before they could show up, photos of Chelsea getting arrested appeared online.

Then that HD video of her throwing away my phone and leaving me to die went viral.

Our family lawyer perfectly timed the release of the lawsuit.

Suing Chelsea for assault, robbery, and defamation.

Helpful netizens also dug up Chelsea’s middle and high school history-

Stealing her parents‘ money for designer clothes and expensive piano lessons.

Faking poverty certificates to steal scholarships from actual poor students.

Working with admirers to bully and sexually harass prettier classmates, eventually driving one to suicide.

Her crimes were endless!

The school quickly expelled her, and the court sentenced her to five years.

Chelsea’s parents came from the mountains, kneeling at the school gates begging for forgiveness and to restore her enrollment.

They even tried to find me, wanting to guilt trip me.

But Ethan blocked them all.

I felt a wave of terror thinking about what would’ve happened if she’d been more ruthless that day…

Ethan squeezed my cold hand.

“Scared?”

“Did little crybaby forgetI said I’d protect you.”

I stared at him, seeming to understand something.

“All of this was you…”

He just smiled. “I didn’t do anything. Just helpful netizens lending a hand.”

Then he pulled out a gift bag from behind his back.

“Congrats on getting discharged. See if you like it.”
