Chapter 4
“Was I not clear enough? I’m letting Ivanna have you and Scott. I don’t want either of you anymore,” I said with certainty.
The guests below couldn’t make sense of the situation and began to look at Theodore, Ivanna, and Scott with confused,
curious eyes.
Hayden slowly stepped out from behind me and took my hand.
Theodore, who had still been trying to tell me not to act impulsively, froze when he saw this.
He stressed, “Janice, I told you that this was just to fulfill Scott’s wish. Our son was seriously ill. We did all this just to make him happy.”
Beside him, Scott’s face turned pale, but he quickly echoed, “Yeah, Mom. You said as long as I agreed to receive treatment, you’d do anything for me.”
H
I smirked mockingly and said, “Yes, but that was under the condition that you were actually sick. But were you really sick?”
Theodore and Scott’s faces turned deathly pale.
Scott looked at me helplessly, trying to explain, “Mom…”
I raised my brows. “Don’t call me Mom. Your dad and I are divorced. Your mom is over there.”
Ivanna walked over, dragging her intricate wedding dress behind her.

She reproached me in distress. “Janice, why must you do this? Scott tricked you because he wanted to fulfill my wish. If
you’re upset, take it out on me.‘
In response, I slapped her clean across the face.
“Ah!” Ivanna cried and covered her face in shock. “How dare you hit
I rubbed my wrist, which hurt from the slap. “And it serves you right.”
At this point, I had no desire to waste my time with them.

I grabbed the emcee’s microphone and said, “I have been married to Theodore for ten years, and we have a son together. Some time ago, my son, Scott, claimed he was seriously ill. His greatest wish was to see Ivanna in a wedding dress, marrying my
husband.
“To fulfill his wish, I agreed to divorce Theodore, only to discover that Scott’s illness was fabricated by them to trick me into
divorce.”
Gasps of disbelief filled the entire hall.
I went on, “I’ve figured it all out now. Since they want to be a family so badly, I might as well grant their wish.”
Then, I looked at Theodore and said, “I won’t ever remarry you. I wish you and Ivanna a happy married life.”
Theodore was losing his mind.
He forced himself to stay on his feet and asked accusingly, “Is it because of Hayden? When did you and Hayden rekindle your relationship?”
I laughed and wondered how I had ever fallen for someone like him. Even now, he was still trying to shift the blame onto me
Without mercy, I countered, “Isn’t the reason for our divorce crystal clear? We divorced so you can marry Ivanna ”
Theodore quickly retorted, “This was just a fake marriage! I was going to remarry you later!”
I had no interest in wasting my time arguing pointlessly with him. I gestured at Lily and Hayden to walk out with me.

Once we got in the car, Lily looked at me with concern. “Are you okay?”
I shook my head. “Now that things have come to this, I’ve already made peace with it. Let’s just say I wasted a decade with the wrong people. It’s not too late for me to leave.”
Hayden, who was driving, kept glancing back at me but said nothing.
Lily clapped her hands and said, “Now that you’ve dumped the scumbag and that ungrateful son, what’s the plan?”
Before I could answer, Hayden beat me to it. “Want to consider going abroad with me?”
“Abroad? Why?” I asked.

Hayden seemed to have thought of something. “You used to be so passionate about fashion design. But you gave marriage. Now that you’re single and free, why not chase the dream you had when you were younger? Wouldn’t studying in Fairn be the best for you?”
Hayden was spot–on. His words struck a chord and reignited something within me.
Fashion shows in Prova… This unreachable dream had once been so close to me.
But later, marriage consumed
my
life
and pushed them aside indefinitely.
