Chapter 10
I frightened my parents so badly that they ended up in the hospital.
Lucian tied my wrists and dragged me to get a full check–up.
“Dr. Zimmer, how is she?”
Lucian shot a worried glance at Juliet Zimmer, who was busy filling out the report.
She looked extremely solemn. After a moment, she took off her glasses
and rubbed her forehead.
She sighed, looked at me, and then turned to Lucian.
“She’s showing signs of advanced schizophrenia.”
She paused before she added, “Right now, this personality also shows traits of antisocial behavior. Why didn’t you bring her here sooner?”
Lucian’s face turned pale as he stared at me “So… she’s…”
I didn’t return his gaze. Instead, I looked curiously at Juliet.
“You go out first. I need a word with her alone,” Juliet said.
Lucian walked out with heavy steps,
She put her glasses back on and asked, “What should I call you?”
I gave a faint smile. “Ophelia.”

“Do you mean the Ophelia from Hamlet?”
I didn’t deny it.
When I stepped out, Lucian was squatting at the door, looking completely drained.
He stood up as soon as he saw me. “You-”
“I’m Ophelia, not Raina,” I interrupted.
Lucian opened and closed his mouth, searching for the right words.
“On Raina’s behalf, I’m breaking up with you.”
He flinched. “You’re not her! You don’t have the right to decide that!”
I scoffed. “I’m informing you, not asking for permission.”
As I turned to go, he grabbed my wrist. “When did the switch happen?”
“When you stopped choosing her.”
His eyes turned red. “Elaine was crushed by how Raina treated her. This was the only way I could make it up to her. I never abandoned Raina!”
I didn’t respond.
He choked and continued, “Elaine didn’t do anything wrong. Her arm’s ruined, and she’s depressed. What else was I supposed to do?”
I clenched my fists. “What about Raina? Isn’t she also pitiful?”

Lucian looked stunned.
“You knew she grew up neglected and hurt. But after reuniting her with her real parents, you let them mistreat her again.
“Elaine still has her family. But what about Raina? She only has you.”
Lucian lowered his head in silence.
I sneered. “Don’t act like you don’t know her parents favor Elaine.”
He slowly let go of my wrist.
“I hope when the fantasy you’re clinging to finally breaks, you’re able to keep pretending like nothing’s wrong.”
