Chapter 11
Only the maids and I were left in the Simpson’s residence now. I was finally enjoying the quiet without anyone else around.
However, my peace didn’t last long.
Lucian burst into my room holding my cloth bag, his eyes red and wild.
That was when I realized that I’d left the bag in his car.
He pulled out a diary and a USB drive from inside it. “Is this real?”
From his expression, I could tell he had already gone through everything.
The diary held detailed memories from both Raina and me. It was meant to cover any gaps when our personalities changed.
The flash drive stored proof of what went on at that horrible special training school, including videos showing Raina being assaulted and beaten.
I stood up calmly and took the items back. “You’ve read it already. Why are you still asking?”
Lucian looked like all his strength had been drained. He collapsed onto the couch, stunned.
After a while, he finally spoke, “The diary says Raina saved me from drowning 12 years ago. Is it true?

“All the details–when, where, and who–are written down. Even the old handwriting shows it wasn’t made up.
“I kept wondering why Elaine never remembered anything clearly. Now it makes sense…”
Lucian covered his face and started crying.
I glanced at my newly done nails, completely unbothered. “You’re unbelievable. You blamed your fiancée based on something Elaine muttered in her sleep. Then, you just assumed Raina was bullying Elaine without proof.”
I lifted my head and looked at him. “Do you honestly think Raina could beat Elaine, given how weak she is?”
Lucian froze. The tears stopped.
This man, always so full of pride, suddenly dropped to his knees in front of me and began slapping himself. “I failed Raina. I’m sorry.”
The sound of him slapping himself echoed again and again until I got bored with the whole scene.
“Don’t trash my place. Get lost!”
Lucian looked at me pleadingly. “Please, let Raina take over. I want to see her and apologize to her.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at how naive he sounded. “Do you think an apology is enough to erase everything Raina’s been through this past year?”
He bowed his head, full of shame. “I’ll do whatever I can to make it right.”
