“Theodore, you-” Niamh was stunned as she exclaimed in disbelief.
Her eyes darted around before she smirked “Are you interested in my sister as a person, or are you more interested in her as Harvey’s wife?
“Elara and Harvey are still in the process of divorcing–do you think this is the perfect time to enjoy the thrill of an affair
without facing too much criticism?”
She wore an expression that suggested she had seen right through Theodore.
At that moment, the entire hospital room felt like a walk–in freezer. The oppressive aura radiating from Harvey was so
intense that even Beau’s legs trembled.
Theodore’s sharp, fox–like eyes turned cold. “Did you crawl out of a history museum? You could conjure up more stories than a medieval tapestry.”
Niamh stammered, “I-”
“Funny how some people blurt out their own thoughts as if they’re exposing someone else’s.”
Niamh’s face stiffened, and she retorted weakly, “You’re obviously talking about yourself!”
“You’d know best, wouldn’t you?” Theodore said, before shifting his gaze to Harvey. “Spending all your time with this kind of company. It’s no wonder Elara wants to divorce you. It makes perfect sense.”
His voice was calm, yet each word landed like a blade.
“You two aren’t even from the same world,” Theodore continued. “You don’t deserve her.”
Harvey’s pupils suddenly contracted. There was a storm raging behind his eyes.
Since the moment news of his marriage to Elara had spread, people had lamented that he could have married the daughter of
a renowned business tycoon in Eucon but had instead chosen someone from the Jones family.
The Jones family was wealthy, yes, but they were not among the absolute elite. People had said Elara was beyond lucky, that she had married up.
Everyone believed Harvey had been more than generous. And Elara had only been acknowledged by the Jones family at 18.
Ethel had spent years shaping her into a proper wife for high society. Yet now, Theodore was telling Harvey that he wasn’t
worthy of Elara?
How utterly ridiculous.
Did the doctor inject saline straight into Theodore’s brain instead of medicine?
“Love must be truly blind.” Niamh scoffed while crossing her arms.
Harvey let out a cold, mocking laugh. “I didn’t expect Mr. Snapp to be someone who enjoys picking at other men’s leftovers.”
Turning around, he caught sight of Elara standing at the doorway. It was unclear how much of their conversation she had
overheard.
With Beau by his side, he strode toward her.
“Next Monday, the cooling–off period for the divorce ends. I’ve scheduled an appointment at 2:30 pm to finalize the
paperwork. Elara Jones, do you dare to show up?”

She was the one who had initiated the divorce. And yet, it was Harvey who was now challenging her–questioning whether she had the guts to go through with it.
He had lost all patience for this woman. The sooner he cut ties with her, the better.
He was already looking forward to seeing her regret everything once she held that divorce certificate in her hands.
Elara met his striking features with complete indifference.
“Sure. Next Monday afternoon it is, at the courthouse. I’ll be there. Don’t be late.”
A dark chill emanated from Harvey’s presence, but he didn’t say another word. He turned and walked away, taking Beau with
him.
As Niamh passed Elara, she shot her a mocking glance, and the corners of her lips curled up in amusement.
Elara stepped into the hospital room with a calm expression. “Dr. Snapp is here. He’s talking to your attending physician
outside.”
The doctor had told her that Theodore’s injury was dangerously close to his heart. If not for the metal clasp on his coat blocking the arrow’s force, the mechanical crossbow would have driven the arrow straight through his body.
Bambi placed both hands on the hospital bed. Her large, dark eyes were filled with concern.
“Does it hurt, Mr. Theodore?”
“It does,” Theodore admitted.
“I’ll blow on it for you,” Bambi said seriously.
She stood on her tiptoes and gently blew air toward the bandages on his back.
Theodore chuckled. “That actually feels better.”
Bambi grinned at him, revealing her small, white baby teeth.
Theodore’s gaze drifted toward Elara. “Aren’t you curious about what Mr. Fisher and I were talking about earlier?”
He had noticed her standing at the doorway for a while. Even if she hadn’t heard everything, she must have caught enough to
piece together the rest
Elara shook her head.
She could already guess what Theodore had said to set Harvey off. It was enough to make him rip off his mask of civility.
