Olivia and I rushed to the rooftop.
Alexander followed us up.
The building was very tall, over thirty stories high.
Noah was standing outside the railing.
Fortunately, the railing was still some distance from the edge of the roof, so he didn’t look too precarious.
Olivia was anxious: “Noah, come down quickly. We can talk about anything.”
i
Noah ignored her and looked straight at me, “I want to talk to Amelia.“‘
My full name is Amelia Lu, taken from my mother’s and father’s surnames.
My friends all found it too cumbersome and called me Amelia, but this kid had always called me by my full name since we were young.
The little boy who used to consult me about college majors when he got into the same university as me had grown up so much.
Thinking of this, I stepped forward and gently coaxed him.
“I’m listening. Sit down first, okay?”
Noah’s ears turned bright red, and he spoke in a stiff tone: “I’ve had a crush on you for eight years.”
Word by word, like reciting a textbook.
Noah glanced at Alexander, “That’s one year longer than he’s known you.”
Alexander looked completely bewildered, not knowing what scene we were acting out.
Noah continued: “I was all prepared to confess to you, but you told me you already liked someone.”

I was stunned for a moment.
It was the year Alexander and I had just gotten together.
Noah had gotten into our university and often asked me for advice. Alexander had been quite jealous.
Later, using the excuse of being busy with studies, I had distanced myself from Noah.
Thinking of this, I felt a bit bitter.
Did Alexander really not understand the boundaries of interacting with people?
No, he did. He was just constantly testing my limits.
Noah’s voice carried on the wind, gradually becoming more natural.
“I thought he could make you happy, so I watched with my own eyes as you were about to marry him. But he humiliated you like that at the wedding, and you still want to get back together with him!”
His voice became excited, breaking with anger.
Olivia turned her head away, not looking at her embarrassing brother.
Noah seemed to feel awkward too and coughed lightly a couple of times.
Noah: “Anyway, if you get back together with him, I won’t live anymore.”
I coughed twice as well: “I won’t get back together with him. Come down first.”
“Really?”
I nodded seriously: “Really.”
Noah immediately tried to climb back over the railing, scaring me half to death.
Olivia coughed twice more.
Noah stepped back.
He frowned: “No, what if you change your mind?”
Alexander opened his mouth, seeming about to say something.
I glanced at him, and he closed his mouth.
I promised Noah: “I absolutely won’t change my mind.”
“You have to put it in writing.” Noah thought hard for a moment, “How about this, you marry me.”
I responded promptly: “Okay.”
Alexander looked at me in disbelief: “Amelia…”
His eyes reddened, which was rare. “For him, you’re willing to throw away our seven years of love?”
He knew I was most susceptible to men crying.
But the premise was that it had to be a handsome man I liked.
Alexander’s face, I had already grown tired of seeing it since he appeared in that photo trying on wedding dresses with Sophia.
I returned the words he had said to me earlier.
Impatiently, I said: “What else can we do, let him die? It’s just getting a marriage license. Don’t be so cold–hearted.”

Noah added from the side: “You only had seven years with her, but I’ve had a crush on her for eight years, and we’ve known each other since we were in diapers. That’s much longer than you.”
My unpleasant mood turned into laughter at his words.
Alexander spoke up: “I know you’re still angry, but don’t make a decision you’ll regret.”
With that, he left dejectedly.
Olivia gave him the middle finger behind his back and mockingly repeated his words.
I was thoroughly amused by this pair of siblings.
