Walking on the way home, I often felt a tickling sensation on my fingers.
Glancing sideways, I saw Noah’s fingers sneakily trying to hook onto mine, then quickly withdrawing.
His hands were large, with slender wrists.
The veins were slightly bluish, protruding just right, exactly my type.
After so many attempts, seeing that I had noticed him, he turned his head away, his ears quickly turning red.
His hands were also casually stuffed into his pockets.
…This person’s ears really turn red easily.
I slipped my hand into his pocket, firmly grasping his hand.
He didn’t dare look at me, but secretly held on tight.
We walked like this, all awkward and shy, until we reached the building where we lived.
Seeing the person standing in front of the door, Noah’s face fell again.
Alexander was standing there holding a bouquet of flowers, his gaze lingering slightly on our interlocked hands.
I reflexively wanted to pull back.

Until Noah firmly held onto me.
That’s when I realized that Alexander was no longer anyone to me.
Alexander looked somewhat dejected, but the words he spoke still made me angry.
He said, “Stop using others to make me jealous, Amelia. I know I was wrong.”
I didn’t justify myself, instead asking him, “Where’s Sophia?”
As far as I knew, Sophia had been disciplined by her parents and was cut off from contact with Alexander under the guise of resting and
recovering.
It wasn’t until recently that her parents found out they had even dated before.
I looked at the fresh multi–headed roses in his hand.
The flowers I liked most when we were dating, which he would bring me every so often.
But in that photo of him trying on wedding dresses with Sophia, there was also such a bouquet.
My tone was very calm: “You shouldn’t give the same type of flowers to two different people. You feel regretful now, but it’s just because you failed to play both sides and are weighing the pros and cons. Do you really like me that much? Is it because of all the investment that makes you feel it’s not worth giving up on me now? Or am I just your backup plan because you can’t have Sophia?”
I also held Noah’s hand tightly, “I’m not someone who cares aboutsunk costs. I hope you’re not either.”
I truly liked him during these seven years.
But people really do change.
The Alexander who used to gently say that Sophia was being too unreasonable and we didn’t need to cater to her had gone missing.
Alexander finally saw the disappointment in my eyes.
He forced a smile: “I just made one wrong choice…
I didn’t want to talk to him anymore and looked down to call security.
Noah’s hand loosened, and a bright red booklet fell to the ground.
He feigned surprise as he picked it up: “Whose marriage certificate is this?”
Alexander’s forced smile completely disappeared as he stared at the marriage certificate, looking dazed.
Watching Noah dust off the certificate and carefully put it in his pocket, I found it amusing.
Not caring how Alexander would react, I went straight into the elevator with Noah.
