1 can give you everything he can, and more! Power, status… We can start over, have the powerful children a fated pair is
meant to have”
gaze turned to ice.
“Cullen, I’m warning you,” I said, standing up. I am Orton’s Luna. If you say one more word like that, you will leave my clinic
immediately.”
He w was stunned into silence, not expecting such a firm rejection
“But, but we’re fated!” he yelled, his composure cracking. “That Orton is just an outsider! Your bond with him goes against
the laws of nature!”
“You have a sacred duty as my fated mate to save me! It is the Goddess’s will!”
I stared at him coldly.
“My only duty is as a doctor–to do my best to treat my patient ”
“Anything else is none of my concern.”
Cullen’s face was ashen “Juliet, you can’t do this to me! I am your ”
“My what?” I cut him off. “My murderer?”
He opened his mouth, but no words came out.
I picked up a prescription pad and started writing.
“This is the treatment plan Gene–repair therapy twice a week, supplemented with medication. It will take approximately six
months”
“The cost is fifty thousand dollars per treatment Medication is extra.”
I handed the prescription to him. “If you agree, show up for your appointments. If not, you can leave
Cullen took the paper, his expression a mixture of emotions.
*Juliet, I will prove to you that we’re meant to be together.”
He turned and left.
I thought that was
the end of it.
now
But that night, a piercing howl shattered the peace of the institute.
I walked to the lab window and saw Cullen in the garden below. He was half–shifted, howling at the sky, his cries filled with
pain and despair.
The guards tried to remove him, but were thrown back by the force of his Alpha aura.
“Juliet” he shouted up at my window. “I know you’re up there! You can’t just watch me diel
“We have a blood bond! A fated connection!”
I pushed open the window and looked down at him.
*Cullen, you are disrupting my work. If you don’t leave now, I will call the enforcers”
“No!” he roared, his voice tearing. “Juliet, I love you! We were supposed to have children! We were supposed to rule all the
packs!”
My voice was colder than the night air. “The greatest mercy the Moon Goddess ever gave me, Cullen, was ensuring I would
never bear the child of my own murderer,”
Cullen’s howling stopped abruptly
He collapsed to the ground, utterly defeated
The next morning, I was reviewing experiment data when my phone rang
“Luna Juliet?” A man’s voice, anxious. This is Alpha Cullen’s Beta, Marcus.”
I frowned. “What is it?
“The Alpha. he’s fading fast.” His voice was thick with unshed tears. The healers say he won’t last the night. He’s asking for
you, Luna Juliet. He keeps calling your name.”
“Luna Juliet, please. Can you come see him one last time?”
