Chapter 15
Julia organized an extravagant full–moont gathering for Aunt Isabella.
She wore a stunningly lavish gown accessorized with a set of moonstone jewelry, gifted by her aunt before the bonding ceremony. The subtle. blue glow of the stones became even more captivating under the moonlight.
Sitting at an elevated spot on the side, she was chatting with several Lunas from big packs.
Seeing me arrive, she smiled and said, “Sylvie, what took you so long to get here?”
“James… isn’t he a bit too ‘energetic‘?”
She intentionally paused, prompting a few suggestive chuckles from the nearby werewolves.
“After all, giving birth to a child with strong werewolf lineage for James is the most important thing.”
“Sometimes,” she whispered, “an Alpha needs. more than just the comfort of a mate to ensure the strength and continuation of his lineage. A
Chapter 15
The implication was glaringly clear: if I failed, James might seek other women, and even if I succeeded, he might still yearn for novelty.
Julia’s words felt like an unspoken challenge.
I simply responded with a calm smile, choosing not to engage verbally.
A month ago, Julia arranged a carefully planned dinner for Emil in an effort to stabilize
her precarious position and win his favor.
The dinner included herbs known to incite werewolf frenzy.
That night, he marked her.
The next day, Emil roared, “How dare you resort to such despicable tactics, Julia! You’re no better than those lowly Omegas at the rogue werewolf bar!”
“The scheming stench clinging to you is sickening! I will never share a bed with you. again!”
From that night onward, he never set foot in
Julia’s
room.

Yet Julia remained smug about it.
The full–moon gathering continued, with the air filled with chatter from pack members.
Omegas gracefully moved about, serving a variety of drinks.
Julia took a glass of chilled cranberry juice and finished two in quick succession.
A visiting Luna from another pack exclaimed, “Julia, with such a fondness for sour flavors, could the Moon Goddess have blessed you?”
All eyes turned to Julia.
Aunt Isabella looked intrigued. “Julia? Do you have any good news to share?”
Julia stood up, with one hand gently placed on her stomach, her expression perfectly conveying subtle frailty.
“I… I can’t be sure yet, Luna Isabella.”
“But recently, I’ve felt nauseated and favored tangy, sour tastes.”
“And… my period’s been delayed.”
Chapter 15
The crowd buzzed with whispers.
Someone shouted eagerly, “Quick! Fetch the Pack doctor right away!”
The Pack doctor arrived promptly and took
Julia for examination.
Soon, the results came.
The Pack doctor spoke clearly and calmly, “Luna, Julia is not pregnant.”
“Her symptoms are merely some minor digestive issues. A little herbal remedy should clear it up.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Julia’s smug face turned ashen: “No way!”
She shrieked, her voice piercingly sharp. “You old fool! You don’t know anything!”
“I know I’m carrying Emil’s child! How dare you say I’m not!”
Isabella’s face darkened.
“Pack doctor, are you certain of your
diagnosis?”
Chapter 15
The Pack doctor bowed respectfully. “I trust my skills, Luna Isabella. If you wish, you can have another Pack doctor run the tests again.”
His confidence suggested no trace of deceit.
Julia slumped back into her chair, trembling slightly.
“But… how could this be? I distinctly felt the signs…”
Around us, the whispering grew louder, hardly any effort to hush the words.
“Looks like she jumped the gun. Just a false pregnancy.”
“Emil only slept with her once, and it was weeks ago, in such a… questionable situation. Did she really think she could conceive so quickly? She’s dreaming.”
“He avoids her like the plague. If she doesn’t conceive soon, her mate bond might be severed.”
These remarks pierced Julia like sharp claws,
her face as pale as paper.
