Chapter 20
By the time my daughter woke up, Alpha Knox was already gone.
She ran out of her room and threw her arms
around me tightly, asking,
“When did Daddy leave?”
I hugged her back and gently lied,
“Daddy’s been really busy with work lately. He might not be able to come home for a while.

“Be a good girl, okay? Listen to Mommy.”
Surprisingly, she didn’t ask to call him like she usually would. Instead, she pressed her lips
together and said softly,
“As long as I have you, Mommy, that’s enough.”
My eyes instantly welled up with tears, and a dull ache formed in my chest.
Breaking the mate bond with Alpha Knox hurt, but the guilt I felt toward my daughter hurt
even more.
I couldn’t give her a complete family.
Even though none of it was my fault, the pain was still real.
After dropping her off at school, I decided to go home and tell my parents about the mate bond
break.
They were the Alpha and Luna of the Moonlit Pack, and I was their only daughter. They had always respected my choices.
had planned to wait a little longer before

telling them, but a phone call from Alpha Knox pushed me to do it right away.
“Beatrice,” he said, “your parents are getting older and not in the best health. Maybe we should keep this from them for now. Your father’s birthday is next month, and there’s a business deal to discuss. I’ll go back with you then.”
I cut him off immediately, “No need.”
He didn’t like that.
“Beatrice, don’t be so stubborn. Their health is more important than your pride.”
I replied coldly,
“If you really cared, you wouldn’t have
cheated.”
“Besides, my parents care more about my happiness than saving face.
“Alpha Knox, don’t call me again. And stay out
of my and my daughter’s life.”
The moment I mentioned our daughter, he jumped in,

“Beatrice, she’s my child too. She’s family-”
“But you’re the one who destroyed her family, aren’t you?”
He hung up, hard. I knew he was angry. But that had nothing to do with me anymore.
When I got to my parents‘ house, my dad was still working, and my mom was in the kitchen.
I hadn’t even said a word before my eyes
turned red.
My mom noticed right away. She dropped what
she was doing, opened her arms, and pulled
me into a hug.
It took a while for me to calm down enough to
explain everything–Knox’s cheating and our
broken mate bond.
She held me close and said softly,
“It’s okay. If he was unfaithful, then the bond being broken is a blessing.”
“Beatrice, I just hope you never let your heart soften for him again–not even for the sake of
Chapter 20
When my dad finished work, he and my mom spent a long time talking in the study.
When they came out, he handed me a card.
He looked at me and said,
“No matter what, we’ve always got your back.”
“Just focus on being happy.”
“Live the way you want. And if it ever gets too hard–just come home.”
After I left their house, all the pain I’d been
holding in finally spilled out.
I used to be afraid of letting them down.
They’d been in love all their lives, and I thought I’d have the same kind of story with Knox.
Turns out, life had other plans.
When I first agreed to marry Alpha Knox, no one supported it–except my parents.
Now that he’s become the strongest Alpha of his generation, and everyone envies my “good
judgment.“they’re the ones who still stood by

Having such open–minded, loving parents… it’s the greatest blessing of my life.
I wiped my tears and went to pick up my daughter.
The moment she saw me, she flew into my arms
like a little rocket.
I said to her,
“Sweetheart, Alpha Grandpa and Luna
Grandma miss you.”
“They want you to come stay at Moonlit Pack for a little while. Do you want to go?”
She cheered and replied excitedly,
“Alpha Grandpa said he got me lots of presents, and I can go open them!”
After I dropped her off, my mom handed me a packed suitcase.
“Beatrice,” she said, “go take some time for
yourself. When you come back, start fresh.”
I spent the next half month away–seeing new places, hearing new stories.
Chapter 21
It changed me.
And somewhere along the way,
I found a new direction for my life.
