As soon as I got into the car, my father’s Beta
sent over a file.
Octavia. Thirty–seven years old. Married. With a ten–year–old child.
Her first mate was exiled from Duskfall Pack
and became a rogue.

Her second mate is also an Omega who works
in a factory.
The shocking part?
She’s still in contact with the second one–and
they never broke their mate bond.
I looked at my father’s Beta in disbelief.
“Are you sure this is legit?”
He smirked.
“Miss, do you really doubt my skills?”
“Alpha and Luna said you can do whatever you want–we, the Moonlit Pack, will always have your back.”
I smiled.
I didn’t want these files so I could run to Alpha Knox and beg for another chance.
I wanted to destroy Octavia’s fantasy–with the help of her real mate.
The day Alpha Knox transferred the full child support payment, I’d already sold the house,

enrolled my daughter in her new school, and
was all set to leave.
That’s when Octavia showed up.
Wearing the exact same nail polish as me, she ignored my attempts to stop her, squatted down in front of my daughter, and said with a sugar–coated voice:
“Ellie, I’m your daddy’s new Luna.
Once you and your mom leave, don’t bother coming back, okay?
Because your daddy doesn’t want to see either
of you anymore.
He never liked you or your mom.”
I yanked her away and scooped up my daughter, who was already sobbing, and
carried her inside to comfort her.
When I came back out, Octavia was sitting in my living room like she owned the place, casually sipping red wine like some kind of
queen.

As she shrieked, I slapped her across the face—
twice.
I knew exactly why she came.
Alpha Knox’s parents had just found out about her and were furious, completely against the idea of her becoming his mate.
They even tried to persuade me to reconsider.
So Octavia, afraid her dreams would slip away, came here to provoke me–hoping to push Alpha Knox into driving me out for good.
Funny enough, I was planning to leave after receiving the child support.
And I didn’t want Alpha Knox to see our daughter again.
Octavia just gave me the perfect excuse.
Her face was swollen from my slaps when I grabbed her hair and dragged her to the door.
While pulling her out, I hissed:
“What’s wrong, Octavia? Can’t play the innocent
act anymore?

Is it because you’ve finally realized that even
without me in the picture–you’ll still never be
good enough?
You came here to push my buttons, right? Then fine. Let me give you enough material to cry to Alpha Knox about.”
Once I tossed her outside, I kicked her a few
times for good measure.
That night, Alpha Knox called me in a fury.
“Beatrice, you crazy woman!
Who the hell gave you the right to lay a hand on
Octavia?
Even if she was wrong, you could’ve just kicked her out–you didn’t have to hit her!”
I sneered.
“She knew you had a mate, and still chased after you. She’s come at me again and again.
This time, she crossed the line by showing up at
my home and hurting my daughter.

“You listen to me: my daughter is my bottom
line.
And I hope she’s yours too.
But if you don’t love her, then please don’t ever come around again.”
I didn’t wait for his response–I just hung up.
Right then, my dad’s Beta called.
“Octavia just transferred a large sum to her second mate–she’s probably trying to break the bond with him and pressure Alpha Knox into publicly claiming her as his Luna.”
Then he gave a short, amused snort.
“You know what’s funny? Octavia’s such a walking contradiction.
She can lie low and spy on you for three years
-but the minute she sees a threat, she panics
and ruins her own game.”
I chuckled.
“That’s because before, she had a goal–so she

Then Aurora messaged me:
[Miss Hawthorne, looks like Octavia’s about
to succeed in her homewrecker–to–wife
promotion. My suffering’s just beginning.]
I replied:
[Good. Let her have it.]
A cheating Alpha and a scheming mistress?
Honestly, this mess is just Alpha Knox getting exactly what he deserves.
