Chapter 26
“I need to tell you something.”
Chapter 26
I hesitated, unsure how to begin.
Peter had his back to me, fastening his belt. We had just finished an intense round of sex.
I wasn’t afraid of bloody battles and blade
fights–yet now, my voice trembled.
“I… I’m pregnant.”
His hand froze mid–buckle. He didn’t turn
around.
“I wore protection every time—”
“I took three tests. My period’s forty days late.
The doctor said I’m six weeks in.”
I jumped off the bed, bare feet hitting the freezing floor.
“Peter, this child is yours.”
He finally turned, his eyes unfamiliar, almost
cruel.
“Are you sure… you haven’t been with anyone
else-?”
“What do you take me for?”
Chapter 26
“I’ve been with you for eight years. You don’t know me by now?”
Eight years living together. From when he was still a young heir fighting for Alpha succession.
I helped him win his territory, stood beside him as he rose in power.
Now, he wasn’t just the Alpha of Silverfang Pack -he was the Alpha King of the entire South.
I’d treated his old silver–poison wounds, stitched his torn muscles with healing crystals after brutal fights.
We were more than lovers–we were comrades
in war. And yet, he doubted me.
He grabbed his blazer.
“This baby can’t stay. Go to the hospital.”
“The hospital?” I glared at him, fists clenched.
“Peter, explain. Why can’t this baby stay? You know I’m not some fragile she–wolf you can push around.”
“Fave won’t accept you having a child”
Chapter 26
“Faye won’t accept you having a child.”
I froze.
“Faye? Who the hell is Faye?”
My blood ran cold.
“I was planning to tell you in a few weeks,” he said, his tone disturbingly calm.
“But now I guess I have to be honest.”
Peter buttoned his blazer.
“Her name is Faye. She’s not like you. She’s innocent. You… you threw yourself into the mud with me without caring what it looked
like.”
“But I have to marry her. Give her a title. If word got out about your baby, what would people think of her?”
Tina, my wolf soul, growled inside me, her glowing eyes narrowing.
“Don’t you see it? He thinks you’re not ‘pure‘ enough. He likes fragile little white flowers.”
Chapter 26
My throat tightened.
I glanced at the mess scattered across the floor,
suddenly unsure how to speak.
What did he mean–I didn’t care about
appearances? That I didn’t deserve a title?
“You see this?” Tina hissed.
“You changed yourself for him. The black stockings. The heels. And what did you get in
return?”
Seven years ago, on New Year’s Eve, I had stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the lace on my stockings again and again.
The new heels had rubbed my ankles raw. Still, I spun in front of him, smiling through the pain.
“What do you think of this outfit?”
He had practically lost control.
“Chloe,” he’d growled, pressing me against the
wall.
“I love this look on you.”
Chapter 26
“Wear them for me every day, okay?”
But now?
Wearing the same outfit, I was suddenly too
impure.
His phone lit up.
In an instant, his face softened into a gentleness
I hadn’t seen in months.
“Don’t worry, babe. I’m on my way.”
Then he turned to me, his gaze colder than
frost.
“Faye doesn’t like walking alone at night.”
