Chapter 31
That night in the car became a secret in my heart, one I didn’t want to touch.
Every time Lucas appeared, I instinctively
avoided him.
As night fell, the knock on the door came as
expected.
Lucas was leaning against the doorframe, the silk nightgown slightly open at the collar.
The red marks on his collarbone had not faded.
Chapter 31
“Coco, tonight’s milk is mixed with alcohol.”
He swirled the glass, “Want to try the taste of being drunk in my arms?”
I grabbed the cup and drank it all in one go. “You’re so smooth–talking!”
“Not even a tenth of what you were that night.”
He suddenly closed the distance between us, his breath brushing my reddened ear.
“When you bit my Adam’s apple, you were much better…”
“Get out!” I pushed him away.
He grabbed my wrist, his thumb gently tracing the sensitive inner part of my wrist. “Really want me to leave? You clearly remember, last time behind this door, you…”
Seeing me flush with anger, he laughed softly and released me, his fingers grazing my flushed cheek. “If you miss me, just call anytime.”
“Ignore him!” Tina growled angrily, “But seriously, he’s good at this…”
Chapter 31
Beta Lucas tilted his head, glancing at the two people sitting on the sofa downstairs.
Alpha Peter had arrived, but not alone.
He had brought Faye with him.
My heart felt like it was being squeezed, as though something was crashing inside me.
I’m pathetic. In situations like this, my first instinct is still to run.
I slammed the door shut and said coldly,
“Make them leave.”
Alpha Lucas nodded quietly.
“Alpha Lucas is here to discuss a partnership.”
The way he said it meant he expected me to go downstairs.
When he decided something, no one could change it.
For some reason, I felt a surge of anger building
up inside me.
Chapter 31
But still, with a cold face, I followed behind him,
step by step.
When we reached the living room, Peter was
lazily lounging on the sofa, Faye curled up in his
arms.
The diamond ring on Faye’s ring finger sparkled blindingly.
“Chloe, you’re still keeping this?”
Peter picked up a piece of black lace and twirled it around his fingers. “I was cleaning out the safe, and almost mistook it for garbage.”
Faye giggled, covering her mouth. “Peter even said this style is outdated, and young girls don’t like it anymore.”
“Disgusting!” Tina snarled angrily, “They’re doing this on purpose to provoke you!”
She leaned closer, “Chloe, don’t mind them. Peter’s just sentimental, and he had to bring it to you.”
“Peter, running all the way here, aren’t you tired?”

“Oh, by the way, next week’s wedding, make
sure you bring your new lover.”
Faye wisely wrapped her arm around his, batting her eyelashes. “If Chloe can’t find a
partner, I could introduce my cousin to her. He’s not as good as Peter, but at least…”
She sized me up. “She won’t get dumped.”
“Fight back! Fight back now!” Tina was hopping in my mind, “Use Lucas to get back at them!”
Lucas suddenly pulled me into his arms, his chin resting on top of my head. “Sorry, Coco’s hands are busy.”
His long fingers tangled in my hair. “After all, they need to be used to grab my back, and she probably doesn’t have the energy to entertain anyone else.”
Peter’s face darkened, but Faye smiled
innocently. “Mr. Lucas, you really know how to joke. But Chloe should calm down. She always depends on men…”
“Shut up.”
Chapter 31
“In Winsor Pack, no outsider has the right to speak out.”
He bent down and picked me up, “Coco needs
to rest, you two can do whatever you want.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck, deliberately leaning close to Lucas’s ear. “I want strawberry milk.”
“At your service, my little greedy cat.”
He lowered his head and kissed the corner of my mouth, his voice clearly carrying into the living room, “Tonight, we’ll drink slowly.”
He suddenly pulled Faye into his arms, a fake smile on his lips.
“Why don’t we stay at Winsor Pack tonight and discuss the partnership tomorrow?”
“Sure.”
After all, we wouldn’t have a future.
Tina muttered in my mind: “You should’ve cut ties with that scumbag long ago, Lucas is obviously a better choice!”
