Chapter 33
The next day, Alpha Peter ran into Beta Lucas
coming out of my room.
His brows furrowed, his face turning pale with
rage.
He clearly had a hickey on his neck, yet he still questioned me.
“Chloe, how did you feel last night?”
“What exactly is your relationship with him?”
Those words set a fire inside me.
Who did he think he was to question me?
Chapter 33
I didn’t notice Beta Lucas’s footsteps pause in
the hallway.
He wanted to hear my answer.
“It’s a relationship you don’t need to know
about.”
Beta Lucas and I could be unmarried partners, family, or friends.
But we were definitely not a relationship Alpha
Peter had any right to question.
My stomach growled with hunger, and I wanted to go downstairs.
Just as I turned, Alpha Peter grabbed my wrist.
He lowered his head and switched to a gentler
tone.
“Chloe, could you help me tie my tie?”
I raised an eyebrow in surprise, staring at Faye, who was standing by the door, looking
flustered.
“Can’t she do it for you?”
Chapter 33
“Her hands are too clumsy, and she can’t tie a Windsor knot like you can.”
We were too close, and it looked like Alpha Peter was holding me.
Faye’s face turned pale, and she squeezed out
two tears.
Without a word, she ran downstairs.
I still had no intention of helping. I crossed my
arms and said coldly,
“Don’t you want to go after her?”
After just one night, Alpha Peter seemed to have grown tired of her.
He didn’t even spare her a glance, casually
saying,
“Little girls are troublesome.”
“Leave her for a while. She’ll calm down. Don’t
worry about her.”
I smiled lazily, but my eyes were cold.

I stood on tiptoe to help Alpha Peter tie his tie, but just as he smiled, thinking he had everything under control,
I yanked the tie tight, forcing him to gasp for air.
His eyes reddened as he tried to push me against the wall.
But I had already let go and quickly stepped
back.
“Sorry, it’s been a while since I tied one. My hands are rusty.”
I shrugged, playing innocent.
I walked toward the stairs, but suddenly ran
into a pair of dark eyes.
Beta Lucas must have been standing there for a
while.
He was holding a sandwich, looking like he was about to collapse.
He softly called my name, “Eat something.”
For some reason, my heart skipped a beat, and
I felt a bit flustered.
Chapter 33
The breakfast was eaten in silence.
Occasionally, Alpha Peter’s calf would brush against mine under the table.
I moved away in disgust, but he intensified his
touch.
Beta Lucas silently ate his egg pancake, his brows never loosening.
After breakfast, Lucas went to the study to organize documents.
As soon as the door closed, Peter pulled out the ring I had thrown away, making it sparkle under the light.
“Chloe, I found it. Put it on, and let’s go back to
how we were before, okay?”
“Enough.” I reached for the ring. “I threw it
away then, and I still don’t want it.”
At that moment, Peter’s phone rang.
The name “Faye” flashed on the screen.
When he answered, his expression changed
instantly.
Chapter 33
Peter gripped the phone tightly, and turned to rush out. But as he passed the stairs, he intentionally staggered and collided with Lucas’s study door.
The door slammed open, and Lucas looked up, seeing Peter grab my shoulder, urgently saying, “Chloe, Faye is in danger, come with me!”
Lucas’s gaze swept over my wrist, still held by Peter, and then landed on the ring in Peter’s
hand.
His voice was as cold as ice: “Need help?”
“No need!” Peter yanked me and rushed
outside.
I looked back and saw Lucas leaning against the doorframe, a mocking smile curling at his
lips.
When we arrived at the abandoned warehouse,
we only saw earrings scattered on the ground- exactly the ones Faye had worn this morning.
“Faye!” Peter rushed into the warehouse, but suddenly stopped in his tracks.

a pillai,
her clothes disheveled, but a strange smile on
her face.
“You finally made it,” she called into the shadows, and the warehouse lights suddenly
blazed to life.
More than a dozen men in black walked out of
the shadows. The man at the front, smoking a cigarette, clapped his hands. “Nice little act of self–sacrifice, Peter. You really played the ‘borrowed knife to kill‘ game beautifully.”
Peter’s face turned pale as he turned to look at
- me. “Chloe, let me explain…”
I stepped back, suddenly understanding.
From the time Faye purposely left when I was
tying the tie, to the subtle physical contact at the dinner table, and now this “kidnapping“—
all these coincidences were part of an elaborate
trap.
And Lucas’s glance in the study was enough to
create distrust in him toward me.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I saw a
