Chapter 34
I pushed open the study door. Lucas was wearing frameless glasses.
The gentle facade peeled away, revealing the cold, hard demeanor that kept others at a
distance.
“He’s not right!” Tina growled in my mind, her wolf claws nervously scraping. “Be careful!”
I stared at him. “phone.”
He paused for a moment and handed it to me. My fingerprint unlocked it.
In the album, the yellowed photos stabbed my eyes. That year, I carried a broken–legged Peter to the pack hospital. I was wearing a white
dress.
Before leaving Silverfang Pack, I had someone investigate why Alpha Peter was involved with
Faye.
He went to the southern territories for the Moonlight Gathering and encountered an
enemy.
Chapter 34
The enemy had a gun, and it was Faye who
saved him.
I heard that Alpha Peter stood frozen in front of Faye’s school, surrounded by cigarette butts.
Faye was wearing a white dress just like mine.
When I saw that photo, I knew.
Alpha Peter’s affair wasn’t a mistake—it was a
scheme deliberately designed for me.
“Faye getting close to Peter, was it your plan?” | gripped the phone, my knuckles turning white.
Lucas adjusted his glasses. “She’s mine.”
Tina gasped in shock. “Oh my God… he’s lost it!” My temples were throbbing. “Quiet!”
“Why?”
“To show you his true nature.”
He chuckled, but his eyes were ice cold. “The Alpha who said he loved you is nothing more than a man tied by a life–debt, turning around to find a replacement.”
Chapter 34
Memories flooded in. The attic was covered
with my portraits.
In a feverish haze, he held the brush,
mumbling, “Only you…”
Before leaving, I shouted, “I hate you.”
He clearly chased me all the way to the Silver
Birch Forest.
He stopped.
Like a prison built in place, he stood there,
rooted, and told me,
“Coco, you can hate me.”
The last part was too quiet. I forgot it for so long.
But now, it suddenly thundered in my mind.
“But in the end, you’ll return to me.”
“He’s already gone mad!” Tina shouted, her voice crashing against my mental barrier. “But you… it seems like you’re moved?”
Chapter 34
He stood like a statue. “You’ll forgive me.”
“Are you so sure?” I moved closer. “So sure that I’ll forgive your scheming?”
He half–leaned against the bookshelf, his pale lips curling up. “Coco, how do you want to punish me? Kill me? Or…”
Suddenly, he gripped my wrist, “Use your way to make me remember the lesson forever?”
I struggled. “I want to choose for myself! Not be manipulated by you!”
“But when you chose Peter, did you feel happy?”
He slammed me against the wall. “What he gave you was only betrayal and pain! And I…”
His voice trembled. “I’ve waited for you for eight years. I’ve painted you for eight years!”
Silence spread between us. The redness at the corner of his eyes betrayed all his unease.
Tina’s voice trembled. “He’s almost driven himself to the edge… Coco, don’t push him
away.”
Chapter 35
“I won’t punish you.”
I reached up and touched his burning face. “But from now on, we’ll start again. This time, I’l
decide whether to walk into your world.”
Chapter 35
When Peter learned I was leaving Winsor Pack, his gaze stuck to me like glue.
“Come back to Silverfang Pack,” he said, “Don’t you always love that snowy castle? I’ve already made arrangements…”
“Do you really think I’ll go with you?” I interrupted him.
Even if Faye was acting on Lucas’s orders, it
didn’t erase the fact that he had cheated.
Chapter 35
Faye suddenly grabbed my hand, her smile sweet. “Chloe, when Peter and I get married, I’ll definitely invite you.”
Peter’s breath hitched, standing in the shadows
with a cold laugh. “Marriage? I suddenly find it boring. While you’re young, you should play around for a couple more years.”
Faye’s face immediately turned pale. She probably understood.
With someone like Peter, life wouldn’t be
peaceful.
“Tina, what do you think?” I asked my wolf
spirit.
“He’ll never settle down,” Tina grunted. “You should’ve left long ago.”
While I was packing, Faye and Peter were still arguing.
“Where are you going?” Tina asked, unable to
hold back.
“I don’t know.” I shoved the last piece of clothing into the suitcase. “I just want to walk
away.”
